aahh 120!

how do u chip ur car to let it go as fast as the engine can?? it wouldnt let me past 120 even tho i was only running 5-5.5 rpms in 5th. any help would be appreaciated. thanks in advance

Are you talking about a teg?

As far as I knew teg’s didn’t have any speed limiters. I’ve done over 120 no problem.

at that speed, the LS motor u have doesnt really make power after that, so it seems your car doesnt make anymore power after that point, the computer is not a variable for why u cant go faster, i had intake/header/exhuast and a few other things in my LS and even with 2 passengars i hit 134 MPH. u need more power!

Unless you have a Japanese ECU the only thing limiting you is power + torque vs. friction (wind resistance, rolling resistance).

Japanese ECU’s are limited to around 180km/112mph by federal law.

the ls 5th gear is notorious for being “geared” very wide, so it has a wide array of speed capabilities. this is only what i have heard so, take it for what you will.

i’ve got a 90 ls, naturally aspirated, with only intake, and plugs wires. and these are my top speeds in each gear. the 124 in 5th gear i was racing an old school camaro on i-77, and was heading somewhat downhill. the engine did seem to stop producing power after that, strong up to that point though. i think the ecu was holding it back.

1st gear - 32mph
2nd gear - 55mph
3rd gear - 87mph
4th gear - 115mph
5th gear - 124mph+

Whatever

i went 135 max cuz the ecu wont top speed the engine…all cars are limited and cant go top speed unless they are full race cars…i have head werk and all other basics by tha way.

I have a 90’s Auto and have topped out at 135 because of the redline, so you shouldn’t have a problem getting past 120, you just need a lot of highway. My 89’ tops out the same with a D16 DOHC.

US 90-93 Integra motors don’t have speed governors. If you couldn’t go any faster it is due to the fact that the force your motor is putting out is equal to the force of all the resistance acting on your car (rolling resistance, aerdynamic…etc).

It is not due to ECU containing a speed limiter.

well we do i have a box on wheels rite?

In the future, I’d suggest using punctuation. I had to read everything you were saying 3 times to understand it. :squint:

Try this:

Haha. My bad, I didn’t see the “I” that snuck in there.

I don’t mean to be a dick, but proper english wouldn’t hurt.

:vomit: punctuation…

:read: heheheh

yeah anyway, he probably just needs a tune-up
