About mirror cap & pillar bar

Hi,
I plan to open the mirror cap and service the mirror,
Because the mirror alway lose balancing and need adjust offen…

I try to pry the cap with flat tip screwdriver,
But still can’t open it…

I saw many members have installl pillar bar on their teg,
I also plan to install one…
But,
The problem is,
On the pillar,
Don’t have any screw or braket…

So,
How to install the pillar bar???
It’s need to welding???

Thanks a lot

for ur c-pillar bar installation, they hook up where the top seat belt bolt thing went thru, urs seems to be missing, but i’m sure the hole will be there if u take out c-pillar plastic cover.

regarding the rear view mirror… u need to shove a flathead screwdriver thru the underside of the black shaft part and the plastic, then pry downwards. … (i said black shaft) if u go thru any other part u can and prolly will damage the headliner. i had the same issue, but i don’t think they are “serviceable.” there isn’t a screw or anything that will tighten up tension of the mirror. cuz i’m looking at the one i just replaced, and the only screw here is the one that is on the opposite side of that plastic cap that u are having trouble removing. which doesn’t do too much. the plastic around the mirror is one big piece, only way i could imagine to open it up is by prying the plastic over the mirror. good luck on that. i suggest just buying another, be careful tho, cuz the dealer charges over $90 for it brand new. i got mine at the junkyard.

Your mirror also isn’t stock so that might be why you’re having problems with it. OEM > ebay.

That’s a ummm cute penguin window cover-ma-thingie

He’s likely got a clip on mirror, goes over the stock one but it’s bigger then the stocker.

My mirror is also screwed up as you describe, only way to fix is to get another.

^^:werd: the reason it starts being “loose” is bcuz there is this lil plastic ball/socket type thing in there, similar to a ball joint. (might be called one in this case) but the plastic socket cracks after some time, or abuse, then it doesn’t have a tight fit around the ball which is located at the end of the arm. u could try bandaging it, by putting some type of goop or wheel bearing grease or something, that would fill in the space, but act like an adhesive and not as a lubricant. but either way, it might be a temp. fix. i suggest a junkyard, or someone that is parting out their car to find a replacement.

New update…

How do i remove the pillar plastic cover??

Blue dot(i saw a hole,but din’t have any screw)
Red arrow(simple to remove it)
Yellow arrow(stuck at here, can’t pull out)
Any idea??

Thanks

WOW! You don’t have any rear seatbelts?

The yellow arrow has a lip that goes under the side panel. You have to pull the side panel out to get the pillar trim out.

that kinda cool no rear shoulder belts …so all you have is lap belts?

iirc, you need to remove the inner rear lining (black paneling) and there should be a bolt or two near where your yellow arrows are. Or maybe you just need to get the paneling out of the way in order for the pillar to come out, I forget.

There’s a good chance that your car has the hole (and hopefully threading) for seatbelts, you just need to see if it’s there. The CDM and JDM (and looks like malaysian) cars had manual seatbelts which mounted to the b-pillar just how the rear belts mount to the c-pillar. The USDM cars do not have this. However if you remove the pillar lining you’ll see the spot where you’re supposed to bolt to. Unfortunately there is no threading so to install manual belts you need to weld in a nut (which you may need to do in order to install a c-pillar bar).

In most cases I would agree with OEM > Ebay, but that is a mirror that clips on to the oem one. I can tell you that the mirror is great, I can see things with it that I would normally not see with the factory mirror. He’ll I love it so much that when I take a long drive with another car I snag my mirror because anything else but it is too small for me now.
