ok well i got the wrong axle… 92 teggy non abs is what i got… i needed to replace both axles… i got the passanger side axle today got home and seen it was an abs axle… i went onto autozone and napa.com and found that the passagener side abs axle is 1/8" longer then the non abs… the driver side axle abs and non abs are the same length… well the driver side axle has a rip in the boot soo im waiting till next week to replace that one… the passanger side axle was completly shot (broken balls) i needed my car soo i figured what the hell, i put the abs axle in my non abs car… now for the test drive… everything felt nice and solid… tracked straight… no vibrations… does anyone think i will run into a problem later on down the road??
I think you will be fine I have ran the same way before
i’ve had to replace my axles a few times…sometimes i get abs, sometimes i dont depending on what they have at advance…doesnt feel any different to me and the part numbers are the same sometimes even
alright… thanks
The grooved abs ring on the axle doesn’t matter. You can even tap them off with a hammer. Most leave them on because they just free spin on non-abs. I work at a parts store and i see this everyday. lol
ok I have a 91 gs with abs and got a set of non abs axles under my buds 92 RS warrenty at autozone, came home and started on the driver side. It sliped right into the halfshaft and when it came to the hub it was a different story. Ive installed 4 sets of axles on my car before and for some reason the splines on the non abs didnt match the abs hub splines, I worked it around for 1hr before going back and buying a new set out of my pocket.
they are the same spline count you just have to work it in there turn an push at the same time it can be a pain tho I have had that happen
yeah i hit my rotor where the studs are a few times and keep working it and got it in enough to put the nut on and pull it through. even put a little pb blaster in the hub splines to help it a little but yeah everything is good. thanks for the replys
oh man you mean i just needed to work it in a lil more. I spent a long time trying to put non abs axles in my abs hubs that i had to take breaks to rest my back and arms. I spent like $140 on the driver side wich is the most expensive out of the two…
