Abs Flipping Out!

Every time I hit a bump or when I first start my car up and back up, I can hear the ABS in my engine going off and “ticking.” What does this mean? Can I avoid this some how?

If I hit a pothole (and it seems like more on the right front wheel vs. the left), the abs will do that. The light will even come on, but goes off when the car is turned off and back on. Not sure what goes on, but haven’t bothered to look at the box in the back panel.

looks like a lot of us are starting to have the same problems at the same time. MY ABS unit has failed, and it ticks like crazy sometimes.

my ABS is all messed up also…I think these things were designed to last only 10 years as all of us are having and complaining about the same probs…lates

A ticking sound? I get that too when my car is cold or when I hit a bump.

I’d check your ABS trouble code LED behind the rear passengerside panel…Sounds like it might be a Wheel speed Sensor…I had the same things happen to mine and thats what it was…

hope that helps

The “ticking” sound you hear is the ABS pump located right under the battery. I think they are approaching the end of their lives. Many people have the same problem. A new pump is upwards of $300-$400. Total with installation comes out to about a grand

:whoa:

I picked up a used pump from someone here on the board and it developed the same problem after about 6 months. Looks like they are just reaching the end of their lifespan.
