Ok well my ABS warning light is coming on. When I start the car it comes on and goes off normally as it should. but there is an odd clicking/ metal clanging noise from the front right side of the car( where the ABS resivor is located). this noise only occours for about 5 min. when driving the car, after that the noise goes away and the ABS light comes on and stays on until I cycle the key again, then the process starts over again. My brakes still work fine. No spongy pedal, i changed the brake fluid about 7 months ago. I have no idea what could cause this! its really annoying. Any help or insight would be greatly appreciated.

Your ABS accumulator is not holding pressure correctly and consequently your power unit is likely continually cycling to try and achieve correct hydraulic pressure.
The ABS system is fairly complicated in our cars, have you retrieved DTC code from the ABS control unit? If not I suggest you start there and get a (FSM) manual. Follow the symptom, troubleshooting flow charts to determine your problem and how to fix it.
Be prepared to pay big if it needs more than bleeding, new repair parts are extremely expensive to fix a malfunctioning ABS system.
I accessed the control unit and cycled the key. Then the red light flashed 3 times. What does this mean? Btw thanks for the reply DB2-R81
Could mean a number of things dependent on the timing between the flashes. Is the unlit time between the flashes consistent? The flash timing can mean different things.
Hydraulic controlled components or wheel sensors.
OK well i finally got a chance to look closely at the number of flashes and the time between them. I know for sure its 3 flashes and each flash seems to have 5 seconds in between. What can this mean?
Thanks DB2 - R81 you have been very informative!
Hello Ls_Teggy,
Here are the two pages out of the FSM manual, one to check the codes and the second to decipher the codes. Let me know if you need the flow charts to trouble shoot the problem however it appears to be like I wrote earlier hydraulic controlled components or a left front wheel sensor issue.
The hydraulic controlled components problem could be as simple as the ABS brake fluid needs changing or air bleed out of the system or as complicated as the accumulator or pump motor to be replaced.
When you change the fluid at the master cylinder the fluid in the ABS system is not changed or bleed, that is a separate procedure that requires dealing with highly pressurised hydraulic fluid and specialized tools.
