Abs Light

My Abs lights comes on after 2 -3 minutes of riding on the road.

Anyone have any ideas on what the problem could be?.

I did reset the ABS ECU by pulling out the ABS fuse.

You can check for codes by removing the little plastic plate on the right side interior panel behind the front seat. The ABS control unit has an LED in it that will code out much like the ECU. I would guess by when your light comes on that you’ve probably got a wheel speed sensor failing, but I can’t be certain. Check in 'teg tips or search the archived threads for the code translation chart.

i took my hole panel off on the passenger side and i dont see no lights blinking on the abs ecu. Does the car need to be on?

When I come home the light is on. Do i turn off the car to check for the code? or does the key need to be on?

I just disconect the ABS Uint. Will this damage anything for the brake system ?

before u do any of these hard things everyone is telling u to do… check if the fluid needs topping up :stuck_out_tongue:

i was wondering the same thing to cus right now i been driving around with the abs light on.

your better off leaving the abs system alone…if you must just pull the fuse under the hood so it doesnt engage.

Its about $1000 to fix anything on the abs system…you have to buy everything as a whole in order to replace it. why ?.. i dont know but i think honda had a reason for it. I been with a disconnected ABS for about 3 years no problems. just easy on the braking because the wheels will lock up now.

see that always puzzled me because i thought it sacraficed braking power, cus i read about all these people that swap in an entire non ABS system when all they could do is pull a fuse? that doesnt sound right.

not only the abs ecu and the level causes the light to turn on. check first if you have 1 sensor on each wheel. if you’re missing 1, then that’s the problem. the plug of those sensors are PINK. you can see it on the firewall in each side of the engine bay. the wire goes all the way down to the wheel bearing near the CV.

i had the same problem…so i checked the brake fluid resvoir and it was empty lol…so i put some in and the light hasnt come on since…

im telling you man chances are its the fluid and its SO easy to check

Here is an honest answer from someone who is well was suffering from what you are experiencing. I would drive for a short distance and my ABS light would come on. Now I just changed all four rotors and pads this weekend and can see the sensors on all four wheels. The fluid is topped off so I decided to try one of the suggestions I saw here. (Can’t remember which post it was.) I held down the emergency brake while driving for about 15 min. to and from my destination and for the whole trip the ABS light did not come on. It appears the emergency brake may need adjusting. So, before you spend any $$$ and if you know your sensors, pads, rotors, and fluid is good give this a shot. It worked for me and thank God it did because seeing that ABS light on the dash was driving me NUTS!

bringing this thread back-

im having the same problem mentioned above. i drive a couple of feet and then the light goes on. how do i check for codes? when i shut the car off and turn the ignition on, the abs light isnt on- it only comes on when im driving, so how do i go about checking the code??

-i dont know if these are related problems but…

when in reverse my car makes a weird sound from the right rear, almost like the pad isnt being released, but its a new caliper so it shouldnt be frozen.

and my strut just started making a harsh rattle noise from the right rear when i hit bumps, but i figured thats an issue with the coilover???

help i hate seeing the yellow ABS light on, it annoys the shit out of me lol.

UPDATE: i checked the fluid level and that was fine, so its not that-

bump. anyone?

did u make sure that all the air was out of the lines when u installed ur new caliper?

go to TEGTIPS and look up the ABS code list.

is it 2dr or 4dr??? if 2dr its the right side…rear panel …side of seat…theres a lil square… pull it off and inside is the ABS computer… what ur gonna do is get a paper clip and stick it in the diagnostic plug under the pasenger kick panel under the dash…turn the key to the on position then look at the light blinking inside the panel… the tegtip will tell you what code is what.

Heres the link for the codes.

well the caliper i installed a while back, but yea as far as i know all the air was out.
im going to try to get the code though and see whatsup.
