ABS Questions

  1. So I have come across a lot of people who are or have deleted their ABS system. Why is that? Apart from the obvious weight reduction, creating more engine compartment size, and less problems to deal with (throwing codes), What are the benefits?

I had a 92 GS and never had any problems with mine.

  1. I am restoring a 91 LS but adding the stock Power Door locks and possibly the ABS system to meet the specs of a GS. Does anyone have any information on adding the ABS system as in the parts? Will it require a different ECU or Engine wiring harness or Interior cab harness? I know the obvious ABS brake booster and lines are required. Any helpful leads to a diagram of the complete ABS system for the 90/91 DA9 GS?

Thanks for any help.

Actually the ABS has an ECU of its own. The ECU is locate in the right trim where the back seat is. You might have to take the wire harness from the another GS at the Junk yard. You will also need new axle that have ABS.

thanks for the input aznlover65. I am assuming that the ABS is only for the front brakes and would require GS front axles. Is that correct?

Anyone else have input?

ABS is 4 wheel and you are heading down a very time consuming path. Put in the door locks and be happy unless you have a complete RS at you disposal you are going to A: spend way more than you want and B: spend a good part of a month tearing the car apart to put in lines, wires and components to make the system whole.

Thanks for the good input. That confirmed my suspicions. Makes me wish I never sold my 92 GS nearly 8 years ago. Oh well. I think that I may just stick to the power door locks then.

Can anyone give me advise on installing the stock power door locks in a ls? I have the door harnesses, door panels, and lock modulator. Has anyone attempted this before?

Your thread is about ABS.

If you have questions about door locks, make a thread in the proper forum. Suspension forum is not for asking about door locks. :bang:

your going to need the abs front spindals and rear trailing arm/hubs since they have the mounting bolts and rotor dust cover for the abs sensor.

its a super difficult task to add a full abs system, and your not going to have any guarentee that it will function 100% or break down. I took mine out since it was loosing pressure and just going out. and you cant use parts from a newer abs system on a 3gen integra, only the 91-93 i think.
