Accord Antenna Plug Install

My Antenna was basically useless, like most g2’s stuck up in the air and bent in some way or another. I just got an MP3 player and was tired of the eyesore so i decided to get the 90-93 accord plug for the DA.

  1. I went to this site and bought parts 27, 28, 29. It ended up being 22.00 shipped.

  1. The first thing i did what remove the rear driverside speaker assembly (the plastic that the speaker is attached to)

  2. Unscrew all screws in the interior 1/4 from the back seat to the rear of the car as well as the rear interior plastic panel. Also pull out all of the clips.

  3. There is 1 10mm nut holding the antenna in place. Unbolt this. Now the cap on the top should wobble a little bit. I then pryed out the cap thru the top. It ended up breaking, despite my measures against it. Then detach the antenna from the antenna motor. Mine was already detached. Install the 3 peices you ordered. Becuase i wasnt sure how my radio would turn out, i mounted the antenna motor upside down in the car, in the same spot w/ the same hole and nut.

  4. Put ur car back together and take some sweet JDM pics!

Hey, good write up! I’m about to do this…is it necessary to leave the motor in? I have a good CD player with aux. input so I don’t really use the radio at all…

nah you pull the antenna and motor out. thanks for posting this ive been trying to remember the name of the site so i can order mine…

ur kiddin rite

that plug looks nasty. Should have just paid the money to have it done nicely at a body shop. why go cheap, if u really do like the car. this is what i think of your plug. :vomit:

i think it looks fine

i agree, looks fine. MUCH better than welding, bondo, and painting. This set up is reversible if necessary and is WAY cheaper and is not ghetto. good times.

fyi these plugs don’t last too long if exposed to the sun. I installed mine a couple years ago and now the plastic is getting dry and you can sort of scratch off the top “layer” with your fingernail.

Definitely a mod I would do again… but if you’re a perfectionist, you may be replacing them ever so often.

But keep in mind, thats cause my car is out in the sun all the time, I don’t have the luxury of a garage :frowning:
