what are the best types of Vtec heads to use? I have a 94’ single overhead honda accord Vtec head for free, what can I do with this?
Absolutley nothing. Sorry man.
You can use a B16A1 head, a B17A1, a B18C1 or a B18C5 head. The B16, B17 heads are the same. The B16 is just easier to find and its usually cheaper for that fact. The B16/17 head also shares alot with the B18C5 head, though the C5 is more expensive. Then there is the B18C1 head that comes with funny intake manifold and you have buy a Skunk 2 one.
Go with the B16A1. Its cheap and easy to find. $400 and up.

where is the best place to find heads? parts yards, on the net, or where ?
What do I look for as far as wear and tear and best performance?
www.thepartstrader.com is the best place to look for a head.

What about a D16Y8 head, I found it on the site listed above. Sorry for the ignorance, but I’m jumping in head first.
What do the D and Y stand for…
That would be a D-Series engine. You want a B-Series engine. It may be possible to swap that onto your block, but I doubt it and even if it is possible, you’re not going to want to do it.
You only want B-Series.
