I installed an Acura RSX OEM filter this weekend when doing an oil change. The filter is noticably smaller in diameter than the regular filter. It fit perfectly and there have been no leaks.
Inline4 reports higher oil pressure using this filter.

I’m curious:

I’d hate to ruin anyone’s ideas but I work for an Acura dealership and we use the same honda oil filter for EVERY Acura and Honda that comes in RL,TL,CL,INTEGRA,RSX,NSX doesn’t matter, we have a big crate full of oil filters…hope that helps…

any opinion as to the inferior quality of usdm honda oil filters?
The US media looks much, much worse than the Fram. The media is noticeably “fuzzy” with small fibers protruding out from every angle. While the filter itself is constructed very well (like the Japanese one), the furry nature of the media makes me question how long it lasts and what it will release into the oil system. It also has the least surface area of all the Honda filters (though only a few inches less than the Canadian one).
I tried it!
I just recently did an oil change on my integra and I decided to use the RSX oil filter. There is a noticeable size difference in filters but the gasket sits in the same place. I haven’t encountered any leaks so far.
A couple of things to note though. Some immediate differences that I found was that oil temperature has slightly raised about 5-8 degrees Celsius, but nothing to crazy to be worried about. However, if it was in the middle of July/August with Toronto’s Humid, Hot, mid 30’s degree C. weather, than I think I might think twice about using this filter.
Everybody talks about the slight bump in oil pressure if u use this filter. However, when people say slight they mean SLIGHT to the point where u can’t even tell.
