And let the battle begin. :gunright:

my white teg was like that, the dealer wanted to charge me to fix it and like a hours worth of dianogstics fees, even after i showed them the warrenty book. went home with it broke and got the Acura client services to tell them to fix it free. went back up a couple weeks later to fix it(live 2hours from dealer) and the stupid seatbelt decided to work as soon as i got in the acura parking lot. go figure.

Damn that sucks. haha I can see that happening to me.

im calling them back tomm. Their gonna fix my belt!

It IS covered.
It is part of Acuras idea to put auto belts in there in the first place. If you had to get out of your car and you couldnt reach the emergency release you would be stuck in the car even with the door open.
Talk directly to client services then have them call acura.
Better yet go to the repair dept at acura, ask for the client services number and call them from the repair dept desk right in front of him.

i worked at Nissan for a while. Nissan will cover the belt portion but not the motorized portion.

when a manufacturer says ‘lifetime warranty on seatbelts’ they don’t necessarily mean the motorized portion.

This is Acura… Nissan??..

I was suggesting that nissan and acura may be similar in how they treat a situation like this. All the manufacturers(at least the ones I’ve worked for) have a lot of similarities.

and to shed light on the idea that a ‘lifetime warranty’ on seatbelts may not always cover the motor(or the module, or wiring, etc)

I guess I should have said nothing since I’m not an “Acura Certified Warranty Administrator?” lol

Yeah I agree with drussell4801 auto manufacturers are experts at using wording to their advantage. I seem to remember a post where 1 dealer pulled something along the lines of “usable life of the car” meaning that the belts themselves were covered but any other wear parts (motors , guides , wiring) were exempt from the warranty. Your best bet now would be to scour the internet for information (threads where people got their seatbelts fixed, warranty wording as it appeared in the manual , names of people high up in the food chain) then climb the acura corporate ladder until you’re out of rungs.

Here is a recent example of this situation. From the looks of it, client services will be able to help you out.

I just got mine fixed from the dealer, no questions asked, they told me it’s under warranty and they fixed it in 2 days. I guess it depends on the dealership that you go to but like everyone is saying, it should be under warranty because it’s a safety issue.

When i go to the dealer for my cam seal i’m gonna try and get my seatbelts fixed to. The driver side is stuck in the back and the passenger is stuck foward. Hopefully they will fix it for free.

when i first got my car, the passenger seatbelt did not work, i went to the dealer and the part that was messed up was some module computer chip or something that was going to cost 800 some dollars, yeah it got fixed for free they said it was under the warranty.
