adding another alarm led light

ok so i have one led light already but its on the brain and the brain is like all the way under my dash. (my friend put it there when he installed my alarm). Since its down there its hard to see the led light blinking so i want to add another led light next to the shifter so ppl can see it. i could run it to a free pin but i was wondering first if i can wired it to the brain and which wires would it be? Or i have a stock DC radio and that has a blinking red light on the radio, can i connect the led light to somehow go with that?

What kind of alarm is it?
Some alarm come a secondary input/output that you can add another led light to it!

it is a KARR alarm. i think 4042 model. if it does have a secondary input/output, should i just check if it has extra wires not connected to anything?

I don’t think if you should do that!
Do you have the car alarm manual if you do check if it shows a auxiliary input. If it does shows a auxiliary input wire you can connect the second LED light to that wire!

I was doing a serach on google and I found this link it shows that the Light Green = Accessory input (-) trigger
check that link out and hope that helps you out!

I just spliced into my exsisting LED wires, and ran a second LED.

Just make sure you dont use too strong of a LED bulb.

If you want to connect a second LED to the alarm you will need to know the voltage of the alarms LED, if it is a blinking or non blinking LED, get a matching one and wire it is series with the original one, [if it is a non blinking one and in parallel if it is a blinking one.

Or you can just get a 12V blinking LED and connect the pos.(+) lead to 12V+ constant and the ground to the ground when armed output from the alarm, [if it has one] or you can connect it a 12V+ accessory, [like the radio acc.] it will blink when the ign. switch is off and go out when you turn on the ign.

You can also buy a blinking LED with wiring instructions from Varad… http://www.varad.com/v4/products/alarmled.php
There are also some at ebay… http://search.ebay.com/search/search.dll?sofocus=bs&sbrftog=1&dfsp=32&from=R40&_trksid=m37&satitle=flashing+alarm+LED&sacat=-1%26catref%3DC6&sargn=-1%26saslc%3D2&sadis=200&fpos=ZIP%2FPostal&sabfmts=1&saobfmts=insif&ftrt=1&ftrv=1&saprclo=&saprchi=&fsop=32%26fsoo%3D2&fgtp= 94

thanks everyone it all sounds good. ima try picking one up at the store first like at radio shack just cuz i don’t want to wait and try to connect it to the green wire like IntegraXSi-R suggested. if the alarm doesn’t have it, then ima just do what fcm says. the reason im doing this is because im going back to school and i just want everyone to see a alarm light. i’m just tryin to do a little prevention of my car breaking in.

The light green lead is a neg(-) “trigger” input, it is used if you add another sensor to the system, installing an LED on it will trigger the alarms bypass, [ignore this trigger input] mode and may disable other neg.(-) trigger inputs, like the doors.:roll:94

nevermind that then…well i purchase one on ebay so i think ill be doing this lil mod sometime next week.
