i adjusted my valves today (b16) and when in started the car…it was tapping like crazy, a lot louder than before i did it…did i tighten them too much…where did i go wrong? i thought for sure that all the clearances were well within spec
What clearances did you actually spec them at?

.152 on the intake… .178 on the exhaust… too tight???
uh yea, its too tight, shouldn’t the specs be similiar to b18 specs? .006-.008 difference of .001 on the exhaust and intake valves?
well the helms said .15-.17 for the intake and .17-.19 for the exhaust and this is in millimeters
Okay, I’m a Canuck and can’t convert millimetres to inches:mad: Visit this site for a more specs and info on B16 valve adjustments. Please be aware that Honda engines vary differently from time to time. So, I suggest not looking at your Helms manual since the specs are for the B18A and B17A.
