Well I have sprained L ankle. last night I re-injured the ankle due to the clutch pedal being hard to depress, Is there someway to adjust the pedal so I have to use less force pushing it? This is my only car so I need to get this done ASAP, any help would be appreciate it.
i would say adjust the bolt on the back of the pedal along with the adjuster nut on the cable itself until it suits your needs BUT im not sure if it would work. worth a try though…
I would think the cable is rusted inside, try spraying WD40 inside it and also on the peddle spring/arm. It might also be the cable is to tight, there should only be about an inch of free play before you feel the clutch.
tension is placed by the return spring attached to the pedal. if you feel like swapping that out, it will lighten the pedal
were can i find a spring less tension? i was also told it might be the pressure plate…
lol. not sure where you’d find a spring with less tension that would work. did you replace the clutch recently? when did this problem start occurring? didn’t realize that it was the clutch that caused your injury. that must be extremely tight. that’s not going to be the return spring. usually, before the cable snaps it will get really tight like that because of the fraying inside
i bought the car like that, I already had the injury it just doesn’t help that clutch pedal is hard to push down (PAINFUL) someone told me that if it had an aftermarket clutch/pressure plate it would be a harder pedal.
this is what makes the clutch hard to depress. if its the stock clutch they dont get any easier, only harder.
i remembered when i had lower back pain, pinched nerve cuz of a tilted disc and sciatica, the clutch pedal is hard and really hurts. you can adjust the cable in the engine bay and lower the engagement point just a little. it helps with the tension and make it a little easier. dont adjust it too much where you can’t completely disengage the clutch. again, just a little.
