So I need to get my 12V on and need some good advice. i have a trunk relocated optima with an NRG E-PAC conditioner & grounding kit ( e-pac is with the battery and the ground kit is in engine bay grounded to the OEM chassis location, and have one 80amp fuse for the battery and one 30amp fuse for the front and rear audio amps and one master cutoff switch. question is should I go from the positive to the switch and then to the two fuses? should i put the switch before or after the fuses? or should I go from the positive to the two fuses and then use the switch for the negative?
are you going to the track? NHRA rule states that it must be switched on the positive side IIRC.
Im not concerned about track rules since i can rewire it in less than ten minutes if i need to pass tech. what im more concerned about is the position of the switch before or after the fuses & the issue of positive or negative. tradition tell’s me positive but a local installer told me to cut off the neagative to avoid arcing when switched on/off thus risking more of a chance to fail fuses. at 5.00 a fuse im not in the mood to carry around 4-5 extra ones just cause i want to hardpark at willow.
where is FCM when you need him
It’s a DC circuit, it makes no real diff. where in the circuit You open it, it will still be open.
Now the rule has always been neg.(-) off first and on last when it comes to the batt. so it would make sense to install the switch on the batt. neg.(-) cable. 94
Thank you sir. by the way what do you think of the NRG E-Pac ?
