Does anyone have close up pictures to the installed AEM CAI?
I intalled the AEM CAI on my DA6 (5-speed manual) over the weekend but found 2 problems.
I removed the Intake, breath hose from engine and resonator prior to installing the CAI, however I couldnt find no “water bypass hose from throttle body”…
I thought it would be an easy swap even for me (dont know much about mechanics), but as I was connecting the intake, I realized that there are two holes on the AEM CAI between the breather nipple and the side that goes to throttle body. I looked around but couldnt fine any loose hoses… What do I connect to them? Seems like I am suppose to connect a vacuum linne that goes to the “throttle valve dashpot control valve diaphragm” (which I couldnt find), and “starting air valve” (cant find this neither but seems to be ok since installation manual says its for automatic model cars). Damn AEM only included one rubber bumper to seal one of the two holes! Since I cannot find no dashpot control valve diaphragm, I taped up the 2nd hole.
Is this going to be a problem? maybe the JDM model doesnt have the diaphragm thing? I dont see anything that is attached to the throttle body above the throttle line thing…
2nd problem, what do I do with the 5/16" water hose? I found no water bypass hose. the Only thing I can think of is that the original breather hose from engine to intake has a piece of metal pipe in the middle that is molded together with the coolant hose. (found that out after I pulled it out and had coolant leak). Maybe I am suppose to replace the coolant hose with the 5/16" water hose so I can remove the old hoses? Right now my old breather hose is still in the car, I tied it up together to the new breather hose so it doesnt swing around inside engine bay. However, one end of the coolant hose goes below the throttle body, which is very hard to reach… I doubt I can replace that easily…
any ideas?
