Ok here what I would like to do I have after market door locks ( the 2 wire ons) hooked up to my alarm. An I want to keep them that way. (turn it on they lock off they unlock) but I also want them hooked up to my e-brake. So when i pull up the brake they lock an let it down they lock. not sure how to do this was told with relays
Yeah you’ll need to use relay’s…basically you want the circuit to be triggered when ground is detected (I believe when the ebrake is up, it’s grounded)… check www.the12volt.com or wait till FCM chimes in
Ok thanks I will check but really waiting for FCM to tell me like he did the last time
This is kinda interesting. I Wanna know to
It was done on my 95 gsr but I dont know how I think it was done thru relays or a pulse something that dei sold im sure FCM will know
SPDT momentary reed switch, you can probably use the E Brake switch “tab” to flick the reed switch, you will have to fab up a mount for the reed switch so it is in proximity to the “tab” so the “tab” flicks the reed switch as it goes by.
Ground input to the reed switch with the two outputs going to the lock and unlock relays. 94
this seem kinda hard an i dont even have relays going to my door locks my locks go stright in to my alarm
U need to use a pulse generator like a PAC TR-7 with the e-brake signal, the e-brake alone is a continuous signal that will burn up the relays or DL motor and will work one signal. If ur alarm has built in relays, u will need to add relays to it just to do this.
This is a pretty cool idea and all but to unlock ur door b4 someone tries to do it manually just add a momentary push button to door lock relays in front of the e-brake on that trapazoid panel.
Why not just tie this off the ebrake light? I don’t think you can burn up a relay with a continous signal especially if it’s as short as having the ebrake set
Using the brake light means u take it from behind the dash rather than where the e-brake lever is. sending a constant signal to the dl motor will kill it, when it dies it could be a silent death or a raging fire.
Yes I thought about that after I typed it but taking it from the ebrake lever or the light is the same signal. I would use this wire with a relay and a pulse generator (not sure if you would need the relay or not)
That pulse timer only puts out 2 amps so you might have the use a relay after the pulse timer to boost the current
On your original post did you mean when you pull up on the ebrake it unlocks and when you set it down it locks? If you don’t mind me asking why do you want to do this? Your alarm can be setup so whenever you turn the key on the doors with lock (if they are shut) and when you turn it off they will unlock.
You will need relays, [2 SPDT] wire for polarity reversing, rewire alarms door lock output to ground out trigger to the relays use a SPDT momentary reed switch to also supply a ground trigger to the relays, it is the simplest/easiest/cheapest way to do it.
As mentioned the hand brake “signal” is the same at cluster as it is at the brake switch, [ground when hand brake set] changing that to two momentary pulses on separate circuits, [one for lock and one for unlock is a lot more complicated and expensive then a simple reed switch, the two SPDT relays are needed either way. 94
