Aftermarket H4H bulbs

Hey,

i am looking to upgrade my JDM one piece bulbs. i was wondering if anyone has any good pics of their aftermarket bulbs, that show what they look like?
please post pics if you have them, i am stuck on what i wanna buy.
TIA
Rob

pics are tough because a camera will automatically misinterpret the white point of such bright light, so you won’t get an accurate representation of the color. here’s the statistics:

available options
polarG H4H: white point 4300k
raybrig H4H: white point 3500K

for reference
sylvania silverstar: white point 4000k
standard HID: white point 4100k
auxiliary HID: white point 5400k

i’m not sure what the stock H4H white point is, probably around 3200K which is standard for halogen lamps. 3500 is akin to those “cool blue” sylvanias. obviously the higher the number the more “bluish” the light will look - 5400k is daylight or “natural” light, what we would call white light.

so which will look better, the polarg’s, or the raybrigs?
I hear that the polargs emit a “ricer” blue tint, but sounds to be better.
what do you think?

well, you’re asking a VERY subjective question. which will look better to ME? probably the raybrigs, since our headlights are fluted glass anything blue can start looking stupid because it’s not an hid/projector type setup. to our eyes anything past 4000k will start looking “blue” even though daylight is much higher.

however, others find the raybrigs to look yellow. it’s not a huge difference from stock, it’s something like halfway between stock and an HID.

you heard wrong
it emits a very WHIte color no blue mabe just a tad bit in a angle

raybrigs light the road up alittle bit better tho…’

what about the PIAA h4h bulbs, are they good? better than those other 2 in terms of color and brightness?

i have the raybrig h4h purple bulbs…they are phat!

pics? anyone?

I have no idea what bulbs to get for my stock 3 peice headlights. What will bulbs will fit in the headlights?? I want pure blue. I see where it says 9007?? H4H?? any help?

if you would have searched you would have found out stock usdm headlight bulbs are 9004.

and good luck seeing anything with pure blue bulbs.

what do you mean by “and good luck seeing anything with pure blue bulbs.”??

Blue light wont reflect as well as say white or yellow light. So your visiblity would be next to nothing. Even if you have headlights with a blue tint visibility will be crappy.

To my knowledge no company makes a “pure blue” bulb (for the reason above).

Just stick with some Slyvania 9004 Silverstars. And how about not bringing up threads that are 1.5 years old :tapfing:

passwordjdm has them. there’s a review on here. i like em, really nice white light.

Ok well I wouldnt post on such old topics if people wouldnt be like :bigread: :search: :lock:

if you want the really deep blue or light blue look, you would have to buy HID’s.

HID Kelvin Scale
3,000K Emits Pure Yellow Light
4,000K Emits Pure White Light (Brightest)
5,000K Emits White with very little blue
6,000K Emits White with a more noticable blue tint
8,000K Emits a Light Blue
10,000K Emits a Deep Blue
12,000K Emits a Purple Light

I had a 8,000K HID kit on my car, and had a 4,000K HID kit on my old car, and the difference is pretty big as far as output, yes the blue color looks cool and you can still see pretty good better than any halogen, but compared to a white HID, it sucks.
The last three in my opinion are good colors to use on a show car, but as far as best output, i’d go with 3,000K or 4,000K. There is a big difference, you may get the pretty blue color or purple but you can’t see as well with those colors as you can with just a pure white light. BTW yellow HID’s are great for rain and bad weather, i’m thinking of replacing my fogs with those!
