I can finally see more than 50 feet in front of my car and now people flash me all the time. My car is only lowered 1". what gives? I’m gonna aim them a little lower but they seem fine. Grr.
Aiming headlights:
measure distance from ground to center of headlight.
mark a horizontal line on a wall at this height. Measure 2" BELOW this mark and draw an “X”. Repeat for other headlight, and make sure to have the exact distance between the lights accurate (it: say it’s 50" from the center of one headlight to the center of the other… have the “X” marks 50" from each other)
Now, on the DRIVERS’ SIDE mark, measure 2" over to the RIGHT from the X, and draw your target (a circle or whatever).
Back the car up about 20’-22’ from the wall (hopefully a FLAT surface so your car isn’t off-kilter).
turn on your lights (low beam). Aim the “hotspot” of the lights to the target. The drivers’ side light should be in the circle you made (2" below and 2" right of the centered position). The Passenger side light should be just 2" below the centered position, not left or right).
Hi-beams are adjusted automatically when u adjust the low-beams, so don’t worry about them.
By following this “recipe”, you shouldn’t have any problems with people flashing you. Make sure not to drive with your fogs ON, as they are usually bright as hell. If you want, aim the fogs about 3" down of the main lights… this will help you see under the fog, and still be low enough to have on for a bit of extra light in front of you.
