Air Conditioner and Door Lock Malfunctions.

Hey guys,
Just picked up my 91’ Integra GS today. ^.^
It has alot of good parts, but its the bad I’m concerned with at the moment.

My air conditioner will blow, but only hot air, basically heat from the engine. The owner mentioned an AC Compressor, do you guys agree with this?

The second problem is the Driver’s Side Door Lock.
If I push the metal latch up, the door will lock/unlock, but will not close (It bounces off the bar the latch attaches to).
When the latch is in “normal” position, the door will close, but not lock.

Any suggestions to help fix these minor problems would be greatly appreciated.

First of all, congrats on picking up a G2!

A/C- Could be a few things. A/C compressor is definately one option, and probably the most expensive fix. The second thing could be you are out of Freon, and it just needs to be recharged which is typical. Third thing could be the caps on the A/C lines are loose which is why you would be leaking freon (cheap fix). It could also be a combination of any or all of these things. Any shop that does A/C work should be able to diagnose and repair any of these things easily.

And as for the door, could you be a little more specific? What metal latch?

Here are the latch positions that I was referring to.

Door Opens/Closes in this position:

Door Locks/Unlocks in this position:

The part the latch attaches to:

So the latch positions are correct, and the door should lock/unlock in the position it is right now and should only latch in the other position and not lock. It sounds to me like the problem you are having is that the latch isn’t returning like it’s supposed to and is jammed. You should take the door panel off and take a look, my bet is something is either caught in there and jamming it up, something came unhooked, or a spring or coil is missing somewhere in there, should be a pretty easy fix if you take a look and just troubleshoot it by comparing it to the other side.

Yea, I was going to take off the door panel.
I had all the screw and stuff out, but it didn’t want to come off, and I didn’t want to break anything, so I stopped. =X
Is there a trick to that?
