I just went out to wal mart and bought transparent candy apple red spray paint for models and such and I was wonderring if anyone has seen all red taillights or if I should leave the backup signals white. will one 3 oz can be enough
I did mine all red except for the reverse lights. Looks very good!!! Make sure you put on enough coats and make sure you buy a spray clearcoat. It looks 10 times cleaner and then the paint wont fade.
Ive seen the all red and I really dont like it…just my opinion
its a bit late, but i got a question for ALPINEintegra…
did you first remove the orange from your lights before you painted them red??
Don’t forget- all red is illegal. You must have white light showing when you back up. Personally, I prefer the half and half, but just painting over the signals looks pretty good too.
all red illegal? im not to sure about that because ive seen some cars that come stock with all red taillights. the only one i can think of right now are the corvettes [2 big red circles]
BTW: i got all red taillights and i think it looks nice, makes the rear taillights stick out a little more. IMO they look great on black or white but den again its just me.
Yeah the corvettes turn signals are red but the reverse lights are still white. (I think they’re located on either side of the license plate) Trust me you won’t want to paint over your reverse lights for safety reasons.

Also, if someone hits you while you are backing up without white lights, you are legally liable. Your insurance will go through the roof.
BTW, 2simplex: Corvettes do have white reverse lights.

i got a 92 teg, which has the amber turn signals in the tail lights. If I were to paint them red, should I first clear the amber, or paint over it?
The reason I am asking, is because If I paint over it, without removing the amber, I don’t think it will look good (amber mixed with red when the lights blink)

nope. i experiemented on some cracked 92 tails and painted them, and looks perfect. you don’t have to clear the orange first.

You can just paint over the amber in the stock 92-93 taillights.
It looks very clean and it blinks red. You cant even tell that there is amber behind it. Looks very clean did it on my 92 gsr a couple of weeks ago
I can clarify the legality of painting over the white back-up(reverse) ligts. Technically it is not illegal, because cars are not required to have reverse lights by law, however most do. Reverse lights are the only lights on your car that are not required. However, since our tegs have the reverse lights, it’d be best to leave them alone and not paint red over them. Hope this helps.
hey another question
so using spray paint is good for your taillights?
how do you get the taillights clear? i have a red teg and i think having the top white and the bottom red would look cool…
how would i go about doing that?
im just afraid i will screw up my car…
any more spray painting tips would work too… like what brands to use and how to apply… clear coats and what not.
thanks!
i want to paint mine allread (cept leave that white square for revers lights
well its a red integra for frist - u thjink it would look good, right now they are bottom red and top is white…id think id rather have it red/red
ne opinons
and how do u spray paint it…just spray over the lights - or do u take them apart and spray the inside of the lens?
thanks
mike
oh BTW…does neone have ne pics of theres painted? (preferrably on a red teg)
Has anyone painted their tailights red, on a red teg. That’s what I’m planning on doing, but I’m not sure if the red tailights would go with the slightly maroon paint on the car. Any advice would be great.

in Ca. we are required by CVC to have white reverse lights.
CVC 24606 states this http://www.dmv.ca.gov/pubs/vctop/d12/vc24606.htm
← All tint tailz…u can see the reverses at night but in daylight forget about it
