Hey guys I am looking to hook up an Alpine MRP-M450 amp to my 10 inch kicker. When I looked at the kicker manual it said I can wire it for a 4 ohm load or a one ohm load. On the Alpine amp it sais it is rated for a 2 or 4 ohm load. Would everything be ok if I wired the sub to the amp in 1 ohm mode?
simple answer, NO
Ditto the above, the alpine amp is not stable below 2 ohms, wiring a 1 ohm load to it will damage the amp. 94
if u dont want to spend alot of money go grab a volfnhag not sure thats how to spell it. i have a 12 inch l7 kicker 1 ohm in a shity box running from a barely stock battery and im hitting 145 db i paid 150 for the amp and its lasted 4 years subs about to quit but not the amp. and if u really want something that going to hit get a 330 d amp from sundown and pick a btl 15 05 18. my friend has a 15 with that amp and hits 147 with a box that leaks all over the place
talked to a couple of friends that have some insane systems and they said u could run to that amp but you will have to put bigger fuses in it and it will run hot really quick cause ur going from the factory output lets say its 300 rms to 600 rms which in return will eventually burn the amp up but it will take a little while to do it. if thats all u got right now i would do it just for shits and giggles than save ur money up and get the correct one for ur application
I have the same amp! aptly dubbed “the Alpine Gutless Wonder”
The thing has worked flawlessly for…Let me see 9 years and is still kicking to this day so I certainly can’t complain.
