alright…as i posted in my other post…i got 4 new rotors today…4 sets of pads…killer deal too might i add…was $120 for all of them…
got around to the last rotor on the rear passenger side…when turning the piston back in…there is the small rubber boot type thing around it…me and my friend doing it noticed that the boot was kinda kinked and like stuck really low…and the boot wasnt going on straight…so we backed it out…and stupid me…was playing around w/ it…and the whole boot came out of the slot it was in inside the piston hole…so we figured eh…what the hell…just unscrew piston all the way out…put in rubber boot…and be all set…
we did that…but then the hell began…the fluid came out everywhere…we must have tried for an hour to get the stupid boot back in the piston hole…but to no avail…we kinda have it set in there now…and it doesnt leak…or anything like that…continued to put the new rotor…new pads on…and everything…got in the car to test it out make sure everything was all set…pedal was SPONGY AS HELL!..so i assumed that there must have gotten air in the lines somehow…we took it all off on that side…followed my cheapo haynes manual on how to bleed the brakes on that side…got quite a bit of air out the lines…to the point where it was strictly fluid coming out…put it all back together…tried to move car again…same thing…SPONGY AGAIN…
after that…we decided to test if their was air in the whole system…we bled all the brakes…no air anywhere else…now the pedal doesnt feel very spongy anymore…just a little bit…but got a few questions…
-
am i in any danger w/ the little rubber boot not being on the piston and piston hole as it should be…as long as it doesnt leak am i all set?
-
is it possible that there is still air in the lines eventhough we bled all the lines?
-
could it be anything else thats wrong…i did a search on here…and saw master cylinder or brake booster…but it doesnt seem to make sense that they would go bad after not even moving the car at all…they were good before i changed everything…no sponginess at all before i started this all…
sorry its so long…but anythign will help me out here…i was gonna try and rebleed the rear passenger side again to see if there is any air still stuck in there
Thanks alot
