Another My car wont start/stay running thread, ignition related, no tach as well.

Ok, let me start by saying this car is not mine, our church has a bunch of dudes who work on cars of folks who cant afford a shop. This is a 90 Teg/auto. We replaced the timing belt, some gaskets, then later the distributor(parts house junk.) It came back to us after a year of no problems. It will run, and shut off. The tach does not work. I did a search, I suspect the distributor may be bad, but I cannot dump $200 into a new one without confirming first that in fact it is bad.

Here is what I know.
Car dies consistently hot or cold.
Plenty of fuel pressure, 40psi Key off, 30 PSI running, pressure builds to 40 as it is dying
Distributor tested per factory manual (chapter 11), all readings within spec, no shorts to ground
All distributor related wiring to the ECM checked out OK. All readings from coil were the same at the ECM plug.
we have 12V switched to distributor, test light is still lit on when we loose fire. (measured at 2 wire plug, blk/yel)
The tach does not work while the motor is running.
All fuses in the fusebox have had continuity tested OK and have 12V going to them
No check engine light, no blink codes in the ECM

Thoughts/ideas?

Have you checked to see if it is spark or fuel you are not getting when engine dies?

Also will engine restart right away after stalling? 94

Like I stated in my thread, 40psi Key off, 30 PSI running, pressure builds to 40 as it is dying, test light is still lit on when we loose fire. It sometimes restarts then dies, other times we really have to crank on it.

Check the screen in the fuel injectors. They may be full of trash. you may also want to check the fuel filter for fuel flow

I would take a look at the fuel system and make sure all is in working order (fuel relay, pump, ect…). How is the idle when it is running?
