Just looking for a quick opinion to make sure I’ve got the major culprits identified to check tonight when I get home tonight.
Symptons -
Happens intermittently, until this morning wouldn’t start at all. Car tries to turn over, and started once only to die a couple of seconds after. Pump the gas and it got it started the other day, mind you, smell of gas was defiantely in the air (prolly due to almost flooding it). It’s really seems like it’s trying to turn over and start, but really hesitating. Sometimes it almost starts, idles extremely rough for maybe a second or 2, then dies. Seems to occur when it’s hot outside, mind you also happened in the evening too, however when engine is warm (came back after a drive, had to go back out to move the car, woudln’t turn over). On a side note, car seems to idle at approx 1000 rpm, or slightly under sometimes. Not 100% where that should be for a stock b18. (unsure if this might be something related as of yet)
Issue seems to be fuel related to me, but I’m still very much a noob, so i’m not 100% on that.
After a good couple of hours of searching and going through countless threads I’ve come up with
1/ MFR
2/ Coil/Igniter
3/ plugs, wires, cap, rotor
4/ fuel pump (hopefully not)
When key is turned so accessories are on, I seem to recall a click (never really paid any attention to it, as car seemed to start. Now starting to think that it’s the MFR. Need to check if fuel pump is coming on though.
Going to check and resolder the MFR tonight. Is there a way I can check coil/igniter using a multimeter? (have one, but not entirely sure how to use it).
Anyone have any other ideas as to what I should check?
