tbh i’d just get a different car. I wouldn’t spend too much money on a car that can’t be worth more than 2k and is 17 years old.
damn man. those are some really sad pictures. im so sorry to see that happen. i say you rebuild her. you said that you were the original owner and you know its gonna be hard to see her go out like that. who ever did that probably thinks that your not gonna be able to fix it but you should show them by making it even better then before…with an amazing alarm of course. ive got an old hood i dont use, its got some decent size dents in the front but it would be better then nothing for the time being. i wish i was there to help you out. in the end its up to you wether or not you want to reinvest all the money, but imo if it were my car and i had it as long as you have, i wouldnt let her go no matter what happend. i hope you the best of luck man, let me know if you need any parts and ill see what i can do. i think all of us g2’ers would enjoy seeing it brought back to life in a rebuild thread. and i know all of us g2’ers will help you out in anyway possible.
That’s irrelevant to the situation. Anyways, building a car that wasn’t worth anything over 2k was probably pointless before, so why not again if you really like the car? Maybe he’s not looking for money value in it.
of course it is. he already lost a few thousand worth in parts. why continue pouring money into it…and still live with the possibility of it being stolen yet again
You can also buy a new car and crash and have that stolen too, either way you’re going to lose money with any car. I’m pretty sure everyone with a DA mods it knowing that it has no value. I bought another DA after my 1st one was stolen, knowing it had no real value and could get stolen again! You want a car you don’t have to worry about, get a Toyota Yaris, Chevrolet Cobalt, or something.
Some people are what we like to call (A DIE HARD DA FAN) and giving up just because some fuck nut wants to make our life’s harder is just giving them the power over us. Not saying your wrong about what you’re saying but we can’t just let them bother us.
i getcha. Just offering my opinion as the OP asked for it. shoot i was like that too…until someone dented my freaking door at UCI, followed by several bumper taps, then the rad sprung a leak, my ventilation lever decided to stop working so i removed my glove box so i can manually move it…and i think my battery needs replacement soon.
Then i decided it wasn’t worth fixing. I’ll just do regular maintenance. I loved my car…
I understand. I know that it makes people sick to have all your time and money in to something and to have it taken from you. You just want to forget and move on to something new. But if everyone ends up doing that, the teg life will die for good.
I have a sneaky suspicion that you will seriously regret getting rid of this car. All you ever hear the old codgers talk about is how they would give their left nut for their first car back. Papa John himself paid like $100,000 for his old bucket of a camaro back. I realize it’s probably a little sickening at this point, but just look at the love from fellow g2ic’ers already. Nobody wants to see this car die and neither should you. Do some crazy research on security measures and implement some ninja skills of your own. Rebuild, rebuild post, happiness.
Yeah dude, honestly it’s not all that bad. They didn’t take a sledgehammer to the body or anything, and they didn’t tear a whole mess of things up. I say you can fix it, but like everyone says, do A LOT of research on alarms and cutoffs, ect. My dad has been doing car audio, alarms, ect so long he could hide it so well no one would ever be able to find it. It all just takes time and patience. Look around your area and find out who can do the best work on your security, and no matter the cost, you might want to pay it if you want to be safe. But like everyone says, if they want it that bad, theyll do anything to get it.
I would say keep it it not bad an you still have the motor an tranny. But I do have a question for every one why spend all the money on a gsr motor an parts for it an NOT HAVE FULL COVARGE?..I do an ill take my car any were that why i have it it cheap an it they took my car they have a gold mine
Some insurance companies won’t give you full coverage on a car that old because a DA’s value isn’t more than $4k on KBB, and that’s a stretch. And if you tell them you have mods to the engine, etc. they want a modified title.
At least that’s the case when I tried to get full coverage on my DA.
I say keep it, but don’t dump money into it at the same speed as you were before. Keep it as a long term project. Personally I don’t think I could ever drive my DA if it was stolen and then I got it back. It would scare the shit out of me. I would fix it and leave it in the garage for the most part. Sad, but true.
Coz
yo its jeff right idk if you remember me i bought some one-pieces off you a couple years ago and you hooked me up with a free bumper. well i have a stock hood in good shape if you want it just lmk im always in hesperia on the weekends.
I think I’m the wrong guy, but I’ll pick up the bumper and hood. hehe

Agreed.
My insurance wanted me to pay all kinds of bullshit that wouldnt even cover what I put into it.
At least you got it back with most of the motor. We see too many 2nd gens come back from being stolen with an empty engine bay. What kind of retard fucking thieves could get past your security in a well lit lot in less than a half hour, but then do such a half ass job of stealing parts off it? Did they tear up your seats or were they already like that?
Thieves should have their hands cut off.
If you love the car enough, you should rebuild it. It’s not too too bad. If it were me, being the original owner would be reason enough to keep it and build it back up.
Sorry you have to go through this dude.
Unless you have additional coverage for your aftermarket parts, full coverage usually doesnt cover that stuff. I know with progressive, its extra, and has a $5k cap.
lol oh yeah wrong dude anyways yeah you can pick up the hood im not really sure if i can fit it in car though but i will find out and the bumper is at a shop they are making a splitter for it but i think i have another 90 bumper but has a crack and its a lil beat up.
Seats were already headed toward the trash, but the fact that they fucked them up even more and it sat out in the rain with the windows and sunroof down didnt help the matter.
I’ll let you know whenever it is I’ll be headed out that direction. Maybe I can swing by and swoop them up for a small fee? hehe I’m broke. Even more now because of this.
well i didn’t read this 3rd page but i have a hood if you want it. Free. You just figure out how to get it to you. I’m sure i might have other things laying around if you want them. Just let me know. Robert.misfeldt@gmail.com
Wow! Thanks guys. I really love the support on this thread and overall here at G2ic. Good news is I have the definite hook up on a complete Lo-Jack system also, I found out that a friend of mine has a complete rolling DC2 shell. All it needs is a motor. Interior is sound no tears or rips just needs some minor lights, wiring harness and ECU comes with a price though. Tempting but chances are good they’ll steal that too. So far I’ve decided to rebuild, but take my time and do it right. Gather up all parts, repaint, then rebuilt and re-register. In the meantime ride a bike or borrow cars. Damn, this shit really fucking sucks.
