When they were installing the engine today in my 92 ls, they found that it has a ys1 tranny, from a gsr. We were going to replace the tranny but shenrie, he works for the shop that’s puttin the engine in, said the tranny was in good shape. Did the ys1 come stock in the ls?
L.
O yeah, will this tranny be better then the b16 tranny?
L.
There are two YS1s, the LS YS1 and the GSR YS1. They are identical on the outside, but the gearing is different. Change your title.
So, did all LS come with the ys1, for th LS?
L.
they will both work with your engine, and if its a gsr tranny, i’d say put it in. the only thing is with the different gearing, you get worse gas milage. if you decide not to keep it though let me know cause the trans in my gsr is almost shot and I can’t afford to rebuild it and I don’t have a press to do it myself. I’d say keep it though if you plan on building your engine, it will make your car quicker on hard acceleration. check before you get a trans from a b16 to see if its a cable or hydro trans if you go that way.
Shenrie knows his shit. Listen to him.
 I’m all ears.
