anybody know anyone near lakewood/ long beach (CA) that can make gates???

so i recently got this house and the chain-link gate needs to go. i’ve gotten a few quotes for an 8.5 ft steel-framed wood gate (steel frame with tongue and groove boards in the center) and the lowest quote i’ve gotten for it is 1k. wtf!!! anyone know a good fence person in socal that they would be willing to refer and has good pricing? otherwise, i’m just gonna make it out of wood. thanks in advance

Just make your own man. Surprisingly simple.

I should… Maybe I should invest in some welding equipment. I’d only be able to do rectangular forms, though. Hmmm

Do you want metal or wood? I’ve got tons of plans for wood gates.

well, i want a metal-framed gate with wood slats but if i can’t find anyone to make one at a decent price, then i’ll just make one out of wood. I’d definitely take any plans you’d be willing to share.

Sure thing. I’ll post some stuff up tomorrow; I’m heading home from a night shoot.

I’d be interested to see that too. We have an 8 foot gate attached to a sagging fence that’ll need to be replaced sooner rather than later…

shit, totally forgot about this (been pretty insane at work the last few days). I’ll toss some stuff up this evening. Pinkyswear.

Lol

Oh shush. :stuck_out_tongue:

There’s TONS out there on gate building; buildeazy is just a great site that keeps stuff simple for those just getting started or without advanced woodworking tools/skills.

Cool, thanks! I’m gonna have to try making one in the next few weeks.
