I bought a new car, driving down the highway and the high beam dash light starts flickering and some box (relay?) under the pass side dash/foot area start making a shorting sound…yunno, that bad electrical sizzling sound almost lol
I think the high beams may have actually been activating/de activiating at least thats what the dash light indicated and the “click” sound. There was a lot of moisture inside this car and I have been drying it out since i got it.
Since its been drying the high beam thing hasnt happened again but the in dash high beam light is dimly lit…Only very slightly. Anyone have anything like this before?
Could quite possibly be shorted cell in the battery. I had the same problem with the same lightly flashing lights and dimming going on. check out my thread.
I gues I dont know. this car is brand new to me and I never had a problem with the relay in my old teg.
Im just going to switch out the new DRL box with the old one and see if that helps.
Thanks.
Oh I was thinking as well…
My ABL light is lit up on my dash and it’s right next to the High beam light…maybe thats whats causing the glow…Hopefully anyway. if i dont have any further DRL problems I guess Ill find out.
edit the dimly lit high beam light is not caused but the ABL light…It was off recently and I could still see the high beam light dimly lit.
UPDATE I finally had some time today to have a good look at the lights…
My DRL’s did seem to be working properly and since I dried out the car from it sitting in the rain in the dealership parking lot, I hadnt heard the “bad electrical sound” since the first day.
Basically one of the headlights was barely working at all…So I swapped out both bulbs and bam, no dimly lit in dash light, no dim headlight bulb, ang highbeams work again.
It seems like the problem was a few things…Bad bulbs, excessive moisture inside the car, and possibly lousy connections at the bulb sockets too. The cars last owner was a salesman so who knows he shoved in there to get it out the door.
Thanks so much guys for looking at my thread and tryna help me out.
