Anyone ever have this much trouble with water leaks?

I am starting to think that the trim around my windshield around the top edges of the windshield is leaking. Not sure, but is this possible?

I do have a feeling that my aftermarket sunroof (moonroof; flip-up glass that doesn’t have any drain tubes) is leaking. Just to test it, I put black electrical tape on top of the crevases or on top of the gaskets so that there should be no way in which water could get into the car or around the egdes of the glass. I was still able to feel dampness on the bottom of the rear seat cushion.

What happens with my car is that water some how travels over the right quarter glass area, and continuously down the quarter post and down into the trunk or if not into the trunk it will flow to the rear seat area, or both. This is only happening on the right side of the car. What gets me is when my car has set for a while, I can apply the brakes so that the car is decelerating rapidly so that forward inertia can act upon the objects within the car, and the water will then rush into the rear seat area. We found a small leak at the upper part of the quarter glass, and we put some silicone in that spot, and it still leaked after that.

I have beefed up the rear hatch gasket, and have applied some urethane sealant to areas around the hatch door latches and the hatch door wire grommet. But still, it lets water go into both the trunk and the back seat. My taillights leak a little, but the water that runs into the backseat shouldn’t be able to flow from the taillight area of the trunk floorboard. It almost seems as if I can’t remember water ever entering the vehicle before the tinted roof visor shield got destroyed in a carwash. And it seems like not too long after that, I started getting huge leaks, but we sealed off the sunroof the best that we could, and I still get water in the car. Then again, to my absolute and astonished surprise, while going down the interstate today, I happened to get up to a really fast 85mph or so, and I could hear what seemed to be the sunroof making a wind-noise (or a whistling sound as if the sunroof were slightly open to the high speed flowing air). But what is so weird about this is that the roof glass was taped sooooo well that there could be no way that a wind-noise could’ve occured. It is important to know that my sunroof is the kind that is just a sheet of glass that flips up and while it is open, it is fixed at an opened angle of about 15 degrees.

Makes me wonder if either the windshield or the passenger door is letting in water. Although I am 95% sure that the wind-noise I heard did come from the moonroof, I am now wondering if it was a wind-noise created by the windshield or something else nearby such that it made me think that it was coming from the moonroof.

I am pretty much out of ideas here guys. Any help would be greatly appreciated. This problem is driving me crazy!

i just discovered a nice pond in my trunk hatch yesterday:rockon:

same here. I think I fixed it doe.

i noticed a puddle in my hatch trunk too too. how do i fix it? and i just got a new windshield in my car and the guy let a rookie do it and it leaks in 3 different places so they came out and fixed it. did u recently get a new one also?

Yea there is a puddle in my trunk also under the carpet board or watever. had to get a bucket to scoop it out then soak it with towels. ring towels. den soak . den ring. very long process, i doubt it leaked from the rear windshield nothong on top of the floorboard was wet. my carpeting was totally dry. ANY1 got advice?

check the drain tubes at the back behind the plastic on the sides and you need to replace your tail light gaskets

http://g2ic.com/tegtips/interior/16.html

Check the sunroof tubes, seal around the tail lights, and check your antenna.

It would be best if you wait until a day above freezing [if this applies to you] and use the garden hose to see exactly where the leak is coming from.

man i hate my trunk swimming pool!!

i found the leak to be above the trunk light

any ideas?

lol wow this is so common in our tegs huh. If you dont mind having a pool of water under the trunk floorboard then itz ok right? i mean it wont short circuit or lead to other problems?

couldnt edit for some reason
becuz i m very lazy to add this to my list of things to do on my 91 teg gs

i guess its not the worst thing in the world…unless u have ur sound system wires tucked under the rear mat and are sitting directly in ur trunk pond which was my case…:bang:

Thankfully, my car doesn’t have a radio or any related electronics. I think that my windshield is the problem. I thoroughly taped up the sunroof on its edges such that there is no possibility for it to leak. But when it rains, and when I am in the car, I can look up at my sunroof, and water will be dripping through the rubber gasket and onto my passengers seat.

So let’s think about this, I have a leaking sunroof gasket, but my sunroof is taped so that water can’t possibly seep in between the glass and the gasket. Hmmmm, so it’s either my windshield or the water is somehow getting up underneath the sunroof framing.

NOTICE: I have confirmed that my sunroof or flip up glass is not OEM.

yea these are common problems of these old integs. i mean i love a g2 integ it looks nice since it has that old school ricer look but im thinking about selling mine and gettin a newer integ from a dealer. Srry back to the topic, yea i brought mine to honda and they sold me a new tail light gasket which was an easy fix now i have no water in trunk. and for the sunroof make sure water really dint get past the tape check for water bubbles.

OK, here’s the weird one. (since everybody else in this post has water in the caboose) Any one have a pool in the passenger footwell? I’ve taken it to three windsheild places and the dealership. Nobody can figure it out. BUT as soon as it rains… Lake Integra all over again.

I have water in my trunk but my windshield has never leaked. I still have to change the windshield though, a pair of cracks appeared along the bottom RHS. (Someone suggested rust in the channel caused this). It will be my 4th windshield. I guess they don’t last forever.

hahaha i love the name of this thread because before i even opened it my answer was yes…heres some tips from my experience with all the leak spots, make sure your tailights have perfect gaskets or they will leaks you can always make your own, check your sunroof drain tubes that go through the A pillar sometimes they break or come apart and the water literly goes right onto the floor, personally for the passenger floor leak problem i peeled up the top plastic couling under the windshield, and filled under the windshield rubber with half a tube of 30 year silicone latex caulking (something that you would use on a house) solved all my problems and its covered up and not visible

Hi! Are those taillight gaskets OEM 33503-SK8-A01 or what is their number? I use this site http://www.acuraoemparts.com/delray/jsp/home.jsp to check the OEM numbers. But if some one could make it sure, that those are what I need if my 4dr LS leaks water into the trunk, I would appreciate it. Thanks!

The grommets behind the dash board go bad and leak behind it and down to the floor. If it doesn’t get fixed, it can cause the Heater Core to go out. You can get the parts usually from a dealer and most likely aftermarket.

got a pic of that exact location jdecks23? i’ve got the same prob. used gutter seal all over the fresh air intake cowl 92 integra) and still leaking from air blower housing under dash, pass. side.when it rains of course. I’ve checked everything erlse!!

which grommets and on what year do u speak of munchkin?
