Sadly my lil 90 RS was manufactured w/ no sunroof…and I want one. My brother is in body work and he said he could do it, but it would most likely leak. Has anyone had one installed, if so…have you had any problems with it? Thanks a lot.
Well, i used to work at a shop that installed aftermarket sunroofs, and if you have an experienced installer do it there’s no way it should leak. Also, make sure the shop you go to has a warranty. The shop i worked at had a lifetime warranty to the person who owned the car at the time of installation. That should take care of most of your leak worries.
any idea of how much it would cost?
I’ll sell you my sunroof in PERFECT condition!! No rust!!

you should be able to get into a decent pop up roof for about $300. A factory sunroof pulled out of another teg WILL NOT fit without major modification to the roof.
“Don’t Do It !” !!! Nuff said…! IMO
people and dealers install sunroofs all the time. Major work? A sunroof from another teg will bolt right up! All that’s needed is the hole. All the monting points are already there.

you are correct, but:
- Making the hole in the roof would include cutting the hole and adding some sheetmetal on the inside, so that lip is there for the sunroof to seal against when it is closed. Major bodywork, as it would involve a lot of cutting, welding, smoothing, bondo, etc.
- If you have the headliner down, you notice that there are 4 plastic drain tubes attached to the frame of the sunroof that run down the A and C pillars on the car to the drain points behind the mudflaps. I doubt that they are present on an RS model, and it would be a bitch to route those hoses.
macon dont do that ish, i got the dumbest sunroof ever, it just tilts up on my RS. I never use it, and all it does is rattle when i bump the system
I would rather not have one, its heavy.
