Anyone ever smoothed out their Calipers?

I’m installing full brakes on my g2 soon and it’s at a toss up between painting them aluminum, black or red.

However, I’m curious. Has anyone here ever smoothed out the cast finish on the calipers? Similar to the high end kits like Brembo and Wilwood.

I think they would look a lot better. I’m not sure the grade of the calipers, i think with a little elbow grease 80 grit on a DA or a grinder wheel on a air grinder could flatten it out and you could use a build primer to cover the scratches from the grinder.

Anyone ever done it?

I found this link. It seems relatively simple, just time consuming. The finish, however, looked well worth the time. It’d be nice to hear other peoples experiences as well!

He did it to legend calipers recently, same idea tho. Looks really good IMO. Few pages or so back.

Yes this is exactly what I was looking for. I hate painting a cast finish because it just draws to the imperfections. It may be extra work, but it appears the over all finish is well worth it!

I agree, Looks amazing for sure. I wish I could get that in depth with my car.
