water pump has about 30,000 miles on it, i replaced it 2 years ago.
the shaft turns freely, bearing is good… no shaft play at all.

i’ve been trying to get my motor tuned after installing the prepped head i finnished building. (port/polish, crower dual valve springs, crower titanium retainers, 3 angle valve job, JG cams, AEM gears)

i’ve been struggling with my timing belt. trying to get the crank set right and the cams. etc…

i had just bolted everything together after tightening my timing belt tensioner. and took at short test drive around my apartment… i think i was doing 3k rpm when it came off, but, i had been reving it earlier trying to see how the motor was running.

ARRGGGHHHH!!! this is soo frustrating. now i gotta get a new water pump, and install it, and who knows if i damaged my valves yet… i wont know till i get the new pump on and can turn the motor over.

i’m venting now…

so that pulley just fell off??? that’s wierd

yeah its like i had the timing belt too tight and the water pump gear just worked its way off the end of the shaft :frowning: i thought about trying to fix the water pump… but i think once the thing came off in the first place, it’ll be easier to come off next time.

i’ve never seen anything like that before. Maybe the part was defective. I would call and report it to “insert where you got it here”. If you call and complain and bla za bla they might have to do something for you. Who knows, but its worth a shot.

that would sure be nice, but i doubt they’d do it :(… i really dont even remember where i got it at… i was living in portland at the time, and it was 2 years ago.
