im looking into getting the kosei k1 in 15x7 +25 offset and i want to run hankook RS3’s but the smallest size they make are 225’s.
has anyone ever tried fitting these tires on a rim similar to the specs i posted above?
did it clear the fenders and wheel well, or do you think i would have some trouble fitting those tires?
if anything i will resort to the 15x7 +38 offset to try and fit 225’s.
but i am def. going to roll my fenders in hopes that it will help clear if i have any issues with those sizes.
Suspension mods of how low your car sits, and camber plays a big role. 225 is pretty wide for that size and offset. It’ll definately won’t work with the +25 offset. +38 offset you can make that work, but sometimes when you go that wide with a high offset, you may rub on the inner fender well and need some spacers to clear. Fender rolling and a slight pull is a must for low offset or wider tires.
I currently just cut, rolled, and pulled my front and rear panels to clear my wheel setup. 16x8 +20 but with 195/45 tires. My rear cambers are around -2.0 and the fronts are -4.2… The rears are flushed to the panel but the front with it being rolled and pulled, I can bring the camber to around -3.0 or a tad more near the -2.5…
I would honestly cut, roll, and pull the fenders first. Then do you measurements to see what size wheels, offset, and tires you can fit. Hope that helps, good luck.
You dont need to do any of that. I am currently running a 225/45r16 Toyo R1r on a +33 fnor1-c 16x7. Camber is-3f / -3.5r. No fenders rolled or spacers. Nothing extra. Sk2 rear lca’s, megan rear camber kit, revo front upper a-arms. You would be lucky to slide a piece of paper between the fender and tire on the front and rear. I know you will be fine running the +38 with the mods I listed, but the fenders will more than likely have to be slightly rolled if you go with +20 unless the camber is increased. I personally wouldnt go much more in the camber department than I currently have gone. Several guys on here can vouche for me with what I have said I am running. With all the suspension shit I have done and then the 225 R1r’s make for an entertaining drive.

im not trying to go for that hellaflush look, im trying to run 225’s for track use. so i dont want anymore negative camber in the front than 3 and no more then 2.5 in the rear.
great! thats great news. I dont mind rolling my fenders to help clear a bit more, so ill be fine with the +38 offset with 225/45’s. but i really want the +25 offset, if anything ill justhave the fenders slightly pulled(my friend rolls/pulls professionaly, so im not worried). I just didnt want my tires to be sticking out like an inch past the fenders.
I understand that your not going for the hellaflush look. I’m not either but only wanting mine to be flush. That’s why I rolled my front to run camber from -4 stock to -2.5 or so with spc camber plates. It’s more of finding the right wheels with the right offset, size, and style you like. The wheels I bought only offers 16x8 +20, that’s why I did what I had to make them fit. I’m only sharing you my setup and thoughts as asked. I’m sure I can run beefier setup if I like. But just another Daily so looks it is =D. Good luck with your setup. Post pic when your done. I will open my own build thread eventually.
I have RS3’s on a (949 6ul) 15 by 8 rims on my 92 da. The offset is +36.My RS3’s are 225/45/15. I’m lowered so that I have about 1 inch between tire and fender. I have just a slight camber adjustment. I dont have any fenders rolled or pulled. So with my setup I am probably pretty close to what you will have with a 1 inch less wide rim but with 10mm less offset. So in summary our setups will be close to the same and I autocross my setup. I dont scrape in the front or the back and this is with an 8 inch rim mind you. I would go ahead and put your rims and tires on and drive around a bit and see if you scrape. If not then set to the ride height you want for autocross and see if you rub. I do recommend taking some real hard turns on the street before your first run autocrossing. Last thing you want is to have paid your $40 autocross fee for the day and then have to jack up your car and adjust ride height in the middle of your heat.
i understand. ill have pics up as soon as this gets done. lol. maybe in a month or so. jsut trying to research it now so i dont have to make last minute decisions when the time comes.
okay cool, that makes 2 people that have near set ups. so looks like im going forward with the +25 offset. like i said, i dont mind having to roll or pull my fenders slightly. thats not a problem for me.
