Anyone try theses generic cat backs ?

generic brand but 2.5 inch i like the black look
they have crome and a entire black one also
not feeling the tip but was thinking to slant cut it or just get another one

http://losangeles.craigslist.org/sgv/ptd/3792628095.html

yea those are the ebay ones, i been rocking one for a year now

hows it sounding ? id guess about normal for a exhaust

in cab noise is relatively low, some of my friends say its loud when i pull away. i am running a PLM rmf header with it tho and using a magnaflow high flow cat because it did get a bit ricey with a test pipe. i like the way it sounds tho

those exhaust don’t fit our cars, I bought one for the same price and the rear hangers didn’t line up.
and since the rear muffler is round it hangs supper low.
the inlet and exit pipes on the muffler extend to far out by 4" so the tip exit 4" the the left not the stock exit in the bumper. . I had to take it to a shop so the can chop it and reweld it.
do your self a favor and atleast take off your stock muffler and bring it in to compare. its your money so don’t get hustled.

can someone post a pic of our stock muffler pls to compare.

the muffler is not round at all, its oval shaped kinda like the stock one just a bit bigger. and mine bolted on 100% perfectly.

I recently installed one of these kits on my DB1 about a month ago and here our my findings…

Fitment- No modifications needed on any of the hangers, however this all depends on the type of rubber insulators you have installed. If your still factory you should be fine, your muffler might sit tight to the rear spare well but nothing drastic. This design I believe is based off the 90-91 teg, if you are running a factory exhaust manifold on a 92-93 it will not bolt right up, you will be about 2.5-3" short. I cannot confirm that it will bolt straight up to a 90-91 but I believe in this year the exhaust manifold was designed longer.

Quality- I’ve only had this for a month but so far so good, the welds seem a lil thin but if you have access to a tig welder I would go over the welds to beef them up.

Sound - Inside the cab is some what quiet not drowning like the N1 style but a lil louder then my previous setup (magnaflow resonator, muffler and high flow cat).
Sound - Outside the cab is moderately loud, tone is deep and can get louder with load (WOT fully loaded car).

Do not confuse this cat back with the other “ebay kits” out there, there are only 4 different “colors” for this kit, all the same as far as construction. There’s others out there that da6xsi06 mentioned that will sit really low and fitment is bad, they are the ones with the round mufflers.

Here are the different variations with there associated parts number, Autotec Import I believe is the main supplier of these, I know this because they go by 3 different company names with all the same number. I also purchased my catback through this same craigslist ad, Paul came through with free shipping to WA state so no complaints on my experience with them.

All Stainless “rainbow tip” Product Code: 1-EX-ACIT9021-HG1

All Stainless “burnt/flamed tip” Product Code: 1-EX-ACIT9021-HR1

All Black Product Code: 1-EX-ACIT9021-3BKHK

All Black “Stainless tip” Product Code: 1-EX-ACIT9021-3BKC1

All are 2.5" like advertised and come with the 4" tip.

My setup consist of a 4-2-1 Vibrant Type 1R header replica, flow monster “spun” cat. welded to a 2.5" test pipe, All stainless catback with rainbow tip. Overall I am very happy with this setup up.

Hope this helps…

Cool thanks all for the replies. I had a greddy i thought it got loud after a few years so i sold it, i could have put a longer resonator in it but i thought if i sold it later people would jew me on the price and since there not made amymore i thought to keep it intack for someone else to have and sold it. I seen these and they look nice and a decent price. Can someone post a pic of it on the car? I should be going to the spot where they sell them this week to check it out in person, i figured they dont bolt up to 92-93 da which i have so would have to get it extended to fit, kinda annoying that honda did that !!

I like how it fits, not too low and nice n snug. There’s been times that I’ve gone over high speed bumps kringing thinking I was going to scrap and nada.

In the first pic you can see how I made the muffler shop weld the spun style cat to the test pipe, take notice to the non polish stainless piece they had to weld to extend it to fit, I wanted them to extend at the test pipe and not cut a new cat back.

overall for the price, it’s a great catback…i put mine on, and took it to the muffler shop to get the rear part tucked up/welded to sit right. i think i’ve blown my resonator since i got the b16 trans since i’m revving 4k normally. i gota check it out, but i’m going on 2 yrs…other than the drone at 4k it’s a great quiet exhaust

Awsome thanks for the pics and the help all.

i just bought one for my da9 and i do not like it at all it came with the headers and everything and it first fit like crap, i had to have a shop heat up and bend a section to get the fitment good enough to not hit the bumper and the canister muffler doesnt have packing in it like most high dollar ones do so it has alot of rasp to it when you give it throttle my advice is you can buy the catback but get a high dollar canister or muffler to replace the one that comes with it.

JAX92DA9 could you provide a pic of the packaged deal, maybe the eBay post or seller pic, is your cat back any of the ones I listed?

IT WASNT ANYONE OF THOSE IT HAD A CANISTER MUFFLER RATHER THAN A MUFFLER THEN A TIP
THE ONE I GOT WAS THIS ONEhttp://www.ebay.com/itm/4-5-MUFFLER-TIP-SS-CATBACK-CAT-BACK-EXHAUST-90-93-ACURA-INTEGRA-DA5-DA9-DB1-DB2-/170853307025?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&fits=Year%3A1992%7CModel%3AIntegra&hash=item27c7a69291&vxp=mtr

actually it was this one with the header included

That sucks man, maybe we should get this thread sticky’d the next guy knows what fits and what doesnt.

If anything if the pipe fits fine then a muffler change is not a bad idea. §

yea but i did have to have it tweaked to fit just right im about to cut the muffler off and run strait pipe because at this point i cant make it sound worse lol

Ok so i picked one up in black so far its been ok i made some changes and have to go back to the muffler shop. Integ21 my tip stuck out way more then yours i have a 93 i dont no if its because its made for the 91 but yours is a 92-93 and it dosent stick out as much. I used some poly hanger bushings which i kinda regret now cause i had to move the hangers back. Ill post pics and my details when im done this week

ok so got it all done changed the tip and had the arm heated and pushed up some, it did not sit flush with the bumper from the smaller tip i used. Iam happy with it looking stock and being black looks stealth. Id say it sounds more deep then my old greddy and is just as loud at wot. I used the red poly bushings only in the rear to keep it tight and in place and rubber ones on the b pipe section, since the poly ones added a vibration rattle i could feel and hear in the car. Hope this helps anyone trying somthing different.

s2k arms and rear lower bar st rear sway bar and some red polyurethane hanger bushings is whats underneath
