as the title states… are they the same.? if i have a 93 RS can i use a GS engine harness and so on?
According to the Helms, it looks like on the RS and LS the “main wire harness” on the Left side of the engine bay is 6 pin but 14 pin for the GS. However, there is a possibility that they are both connected and only 1 is used. I know I remember there being a large plug on that side of my old LS that wasn’t connected to anything…I always assumed it was a test harness.
You’ll have to get out your Helms and verify that what it says there corresponds to what you are seeing in your engine bay.

i am only wondering because i need to buy a harness for my swap and the body is a 93 RS (automatic) and the motor is a 93GSR (manual) i know the B17 Harness is different
but going from ls to gsr on an obd1 harness shouldnt be a big change considering that you need a vtec wire. but im not too sure about the exact details.

If you don’t mind my asking, what happened to your engine harness?
i bought a shell so it didnt have a engine harness when i bought it. the shell was automatic and holding the B17 harness up to it i have a plug on the driver shock tower with 6 pins that has nowhere to go(comes from the body side not engine side) im wondering if i should find a automatic RS harness and use that
So looking on hondapartsunlimited, it looks like the RS/LS/GS 5 speed harnesses are the same part number and separately, the RS/LS/GS auto are all the same part number. The GS-R is its own part number.
So yeah, I would try to find an Auto harness and use that as your base harness. You may need a few plugs (especially the vtec solenoid plug) off of the GS-R harness, but the wiring will be much easier if you start your custom harness by using one that corresponds to the chassis side and then just add any necessary wires to do the vtec swap.
Actually, on the ECU side, you will have several pins specific to the A/T transmission, what you can do is trace one out to the engine harness and use that wire for the VTEC, then just de-pin it on the ECU side and put it in the proper pin placement for the vtec wire.

cool thanks man… sounds like a plan… the bay will look cleaner that was also.
