Ive installed mine. The install was very easy. Im very happy with the results since the sway bar cleared my exhaust! Now im just going to have to wait for a track day to see how well the sway bar reacts. btw- i got the whole kit with the 24mm asr sway bar and the aurora endlinks.

[QUOTE=.J.;1998169]I can’t really even put into words how much this set-up has changed the feel of my car; but I also wouldn’t attempt to describe it quite yet because I haven’t re-cornerbalanced and aligned since the install.

To say that it “tightens things up” would be an understatement. My first thoughts were that I could probably go down a full 4K on my rear spring rate, but I run some ungodly rates currently, 18K. I also am thinking about pushing my rear camber out for a little more track out back. Because I am feeling more of a positive feeling at turn in I don’t think the car would drag much from a little more tire contact but with a little less tire pressure.

The only advice I would offer up to someone who intends to install the kit, is to check your hardware tension often. I’ve only put about 100 miles on my kit, about 50 miles twice, and both times the chassis hardware had come loose and that was with me using “Blue” Loctite.

And if you are thinking about buying the kit, I would recommend it based on the little I’ve used it, but make sure you’re already upgraded the other parts of your suspension prior to install so you can really appreciate the part.

My Suspension reinforcement set-up is as follows for your own comparison and if you really want to know my Castor, Tow and Corner balance rates I’d have to dig up my last summary from out in the garage; but this off the top of my head:

Rear:
ASR subframe with 24mm sway and adjustable endlinks
Miracle X-Bar
DC Rear Trailing arms with Mugen “prego” bushings
SBC AI Arms
DC2R - Rear upper arms (-3.1 Rear Camber)
18K Rear Springs
JDM Bumper Support (this is a suspension upgrade in my mind as deadweight is a major factor with suspension dynamics)

Front:
Spoon Strut Bar
Replaced OEM bushings - (not a fan of Poly)
22K Front Springs
Cusco Lower Front Strut Bar
Vision A-Arms - (-3.3 negative Camber)
Full Race Front X-member
Hasport Motor Mounts - Black Bushing 60A Durometer
JDM Bumper Support

Wow those are some insane spring rates…Im gonna assume this is a track only car. Can I ask why you chose to have higher spring rates in the front then the back? Is it to a point where the rate is so high it doesn’t even matter any more haha?

I also have the asr 24mm kit on my car which is both dd/track for now. I have pic selects 10k front and 8k rear coilovers…I thought these rates with the asr bar should make for a nice neutral setting for dd/track. Once I am more experienced I might switch the back to 14k if needed.

this kit really does wonders even with stock set-up from someone here in the forum.

Well I have to say Install of the actuall brace was simple as could be.

However, now installation of my ST 19 mm swaybar is not going to happen due to the fact the sway bar and the brace want to occupy the same space. even with the stock swaybar there seem to be very little clearence. so little in fact Im worried under hard cornnering that there will be contact between the bar and the brace.

Thats great news for us that decided to upgrade our swaybars beforehand. I guess my only option now is to track down an ITR bar and brackets and sell my brand new (less than 3k miles on it) ST swaybar for a loss.

Excellent R & D ASR

I would think the ASR sway bar would be your best choice. that whole Brace and sway bar setup looks real nice

Honestly, this is your fault, not ASR’s. Don’t blame them.

The whole point of the ASR brace is to reinforce your subframe and give it a swaybar mounting location (like EG/DC/EK). Since the ST swaybar mounts in the stock manner/location and never touches the subframe, having a subframe reinforcement brace is NOT necessary.

It soulds like you wanted to buy the ASR brace for its looks, but didn’t think about what it was actually meant for: preventing subframe tearout using an EG/DC/EK syle sway bar that mounts directly to the subframe.

True but some of us asked before buying the part if the stock unit would clear and they said it would. Conveniently enough they left out how much clearance there would be.

Either way I’m not worried about it. I still have my stock sway bar on the car but will soon be putting the EG/DC SRR w/Blox endlinks on once I get a chance.

thats exactly why I bought it, its a good thing you know me and the reasoning behind why I purchased it better than I do.

let the record show, I was just venting on my fustration. this is not the first time ive learned something from misinformation, and can guarentee it wont be the last.

also that at no point am I down talking asr as a company, the subframe brace is a quality piece and at some point I will take advantage of it and upgrade to a ITR style bar.

hello all,

just wondering if you had to drill the 2 holes to mount the upper part of the brackets to the underside of the car; was this difficult to do? what type of hardwares did you use (i.e. tapping screws?) Please click on thumb nail to see my question ~ Thanks in advance!

either mount, tighten all mounting hardware, use a marker, and mark the holes to drill out, remove brace, have safety glasses on or a face shield may be better (dirt & shavings can fly)

and go to town with the drill
