Attn: VTEC Wiring gurus

Will just using a VTEC controller allow VTEC to activate? I ask this because I’m waiting for my PR3 ECU to arrive. If it does work, do I just have to wire it directly to the VTEC solenoid? Not having anything hooked up to the knock sensor and 2nd O2 sensor going to not allow it to work? I wouldn’t think so since I’m still using a PR4 ecu and it doesn’t know what a knock sensor is. Please Help, I still haven’t experienced my VTEC!!!TIA.

Are u talking about using a non-vtec ECU and a VTEC controller? if so you’ll be running lean like a bish in VTEC and probably hurt something vital. :-/

VTEC Ecu’s also richen things up, do some fun spark timing things during VTEC… Without the rest. If it worked. You’re seriously axin’ for it.

For right now I have a PR4 ecu. I’m waiting for a manual tranny ecu to arrive through the same place I got the engine. As a substitute, they gave me an automatic PR3 ecu which I haven’t hooked up because I would rather wait for the manual. If I hooked up this automatic ecu would it work then?

Here’s another somewhat related question. If I chip the auto ECU with a chip from hyperducktuning, it will convert it to a manual transmission right? Will running a vtec controller and a chipped ECU work together? Thanks for the help.

for the ecu, depending on what programs you use and who does it, the possibilities are endless, as for the vtec controller, a fields controller can only atcivate your vtec without adjusting your timing and fuel curves the way a ecu does when vtec is activated, you can manually set them though, if you use a afcvtec you can adjust timing/fuel and vtec. which makes your vtec work better, ive tried different ecus, i have a program for lsvtec and it works great w/ my fields controller. dont use the auto pr3 it has a speed govenor of 110mph, and it wont do any good w/ your motor but let you drive it around. if you want i can get you a ecu w/ the same program i have.

thanks for the input hybridg2I. I just bought (its on its way) the apex-i vafc.

Do you know someone, or are you in the business of selling ecu’s? What I mean is if I were to get the same ecu you have with the same program, would you be able to sell mine or take it? How much are you looking to get for the ecu? THanks again for the help. BTW…go here: http://hyper.phluid.net/vtecnonobd.html

look at the top program mugen N1 chip. I f I were to install this on the auto PR3 I have wouldn’t it get rid of the governor you mentioned and convert my auto to a manual?

ive tried the spoon, pyr, and mugen n1,
i have the mugen n1 program w/ no revlimiter,if you re-chip your pr3 ecu w/ the mugen n1 it should get rid of governor, i also have an extra pyr chipped ecu laying around, make me an offer if youre interested:up:

There is some internal work that has to be done in an auto ECU to make it work right in a manual. You can plug it in and it will make your car run, but it wont run right.

If you need ECU tuning/chipping help just let me know. I chip ECU’s on the side and I am kinda local to you (Seattle).
