Hey all, I’m wondering what kind of range of $$$ I’d be looking at for materials to install a complete system, i.e. deck, component 6.5"s in the front, 6.5"s co-ax in the rear, 4-ch amp, and 10" sub.
I have all the stereo components (I don’t have all the specs as I’m at work):
Alpine cd deck w/Ipod control (new in Summer '06)
Polk Audio new component 6.5"s w/crossover
Alpine Type-R 6.5"s co-axial
New old stock Rockford Fosgate 4-channel amp w/crossover
10" Pioneer sub with home-made box made to proper airspace, cubic inch specs
Would it just be a wiring kit or anything else? I’ve not done anything as involved before, nor do I really have the time, so I’d like to see what I’d have to pay. What about ballpark costs for just the installation?
On a side note, if you’re experienced in audio or are already an installer and want a quick side job get in touch. Ca$h paid. Located in / near / around Toronto Canada.
What are you looking for? are u looking for quality sound or just SLAPS. From what i am getting, since u want a 10 inch sub and 4 channel amp, im guessing you want quality sound.
There are a variety of ways to have quality sound in your car with out a sub also. pretty sure people have their own opinions, but this is just my opinion. Also there are cheaper ways, but Alpine is one of the best brands out there, also u can look into infinity, polk audio, hifonics, etc. but umm ur looking to spen around 5 to 600 bucks.
Hey man, I appreciate the detailed input. I should have mentioned that I have all the components, I just wanted an idea on added costs for added installation materials and labour.
$200 for the install, $400-$500 to do it properly, [for best SQ].
A proper job would mean replacing the stock plastic speaker housings with custom MDF housings, although the rear speakers could use the stock speaker wiring the front components should be rewired with 16ga speaker wire, I would also suggest Dynamating, [or the like] the doors. 94
I’ll probably pass on the custom MDF housings for now. What’s the approximate cost on Dynamatting the doors you think and is it a fairly quick and easy DIY job? I will look into rewiring the front components also.
Starting at about $20, [speaker kit, two 12"x12" mats] to $100+ to do both doors completely, [replace plastic vapor barrier with Dynamat, or the like] sealing the door as much as possible for a better speaker cabinet.
Unless I was replacing the plastic speaker housings with custom MDF ones, I would not do the whole door, there is more to be had from doing the speaker housings then doing more then the 2 sqft of Dynamat, again unless you do replace the plastic speaker housings. 94
