okay, so like i was driving and my bro sittin was in the front passenger seat rite, and i dont know if this had happened before… so anyways, i turned off the engine and unlocked the doors, my brother opened his side door, (BTW, this is 91 gs coupe) and guess wut, the automatic shoulder belt just pulls in and locks, strangling my brother… lol. it doesnt happen on the drivers side, thank god, but it does on the passenger side… and this has happened many times since then, sometimes i have to restart the engine and let him out before turning it off and it strangling him again… i dont mind that, but if i had a gf in the seat ya know… not cool, i mite not have gf anymore, so, has anyone had this problem before?? wuts up wit my belt??
this happen to my passenger before. only once though. i think it had something to do with the brakes. think the belts locked up when i was on the brakes.
i have the same problem with the passenger side. Never figured out why it does this. Instead of turning off the car just hit the emergency release. Oh and I sprayed some white lithium grease into the housing where the shoulder belt winds-up inside. Havent had the problem in awhile. Just incase i always pull the seatbelt before the passenger closes the door to make sure the belt isnt locked up
Yea, this happens to me, quite often actually. I find it rather amusing. It happens to the same girl everytime, but just because shes the only one that rides shotgun. She thinks my car is trying to kill her, because its jealous…

LOL…one time my ex gf was talking about me and how she sometimes felt that I loved my car more than her. Then she said its just a damn car and smacked the dash. When she went to get out my car put her in a choke hold with the seatbelt LOLOLOLOL…funniest sh1t I had ever seen…she was soooo pissed at me laughing. I told her that my car is jealous of her, does have feelings, and just kicked her ass…LOL…when she finally got out, she kicked the tire and called my car a B I T C H
It has happened to me a couple times, IT SUCKS … but i think i know why.
When you go hard on the brakes, the seat belt locks and holds you in place (like it should). Unfortunately, sometimes it doesn’t unlock, and therefore stays in that locked position when you try to open the door.
When this happens, i just close the door, pull on the belt slowly and unlock it.

I’ve been strangled in the drivers side a couple of times. It happens when my seatbelt locks when i turn sharp and brake hard into a parking spot. Then open the door and i can’t breathe!!! But yay. Does it only strangle the person when you turn hard and brake hard before parking? If so, you may just have to change your driving habits so that you don’t kill your passenger. :o) :burnout:
