Does anyone recommend autozone brake pads? I’m replacing my old rear brake pads and need new ones fast, like now. what are the good ones that you guys have. thanks
For regular everyday driving they’re fine. Plus the rear brakes do next to nothing anyhow on our cars.
lifetime warranty too
autozone duralast FTW. afforadable and helps brake power, my car brakes fine noe:rockon:
what do you mean by the rear brakes do next to nothing on our cars? do the front pads wear faster than the rear?
He means that even under the heaviest conditions, like circuit racing, the rears never get nearly as hot as the fronts. Since the rears never overheat (unless a caliper sticks) it’s the fronts that are sorta like the weakest link to the braking abilities.
Just on Sunday I went to the local race track. After my stints and parking the rear disks become cool again after only maybe 10-15 minutes. But even after 30 minutes the front disks were too hot to touch with my hands.
gotcha, thanks.
I work at autozone and the brake pads are great. The cmax are better then oem and come with lifetime. The cmax will give hawk ceramic a run for the money.
How come when I searched for cmax brake pads on the Autozone website… it comes up zero. Is cmax the actual brand?
our cars have 20% of their stopping power in the rear calipers in a high speed situation…do some research.
thats what i thought too and then i got my brakes done yesterday and had to get new rotors and pads for the rear. the front pads still had lots of life in them:-) thanks tacvbo!
no problem buddy
True I’m running their semi metallics with brembo cross drilled & slotted rotors stops fine
tacvbo, a static 20% bias still does next to nothing. When you consider the swept area of the disk, and the small moment arm of the rear brake system as well as the small Normal force exerted on the rear tires during heavy braking, the rear brakes do next to nothing.
It does even less work when you have a brake kit on the front. On my DA9, I’m running Wilwood 4 piston calipers with 12.2" rotors with Polymatrix B compound pads.
Over the past 3 years of SCCA Solo II, from the several events I’ve spun my integra atleast 4 times due to trailbraking oversteer, meaning the rear gets too light, and comes around. This happened at turn 17 at VIR too. I almost put the car in the tire wall. More rear brake on FF cars is a bad idea–especially when coupled with a stiff rear bar.
I have the duralast pads and they are fine and they don’t put out to much brake dust.

You said it…on 4 piston calipers. This person just asked a simple question and I don’t think he’s running with aftermarket calipers. It has been proven that our cars have about 20% of stopping power in the rear calipers, for the same reason they also recommend upgrading the rear brake pads for road racing applications, just like one of my teachers said: there is a reason why we have rear disc brakes…in that case, why didn’t honda just put drums like on certain civics??? What do you mean by 20% is next to nothing??? So if we take 20% hp out of your motor…is that going to do next to nothing of a difference in your engine’s performance?? 20% is 20% quite a bit.
insiteful
very interesting and the winner is???
lol
i hate my duralast pads they get brake dust all over my wheels the rear have more dust then the fronts lol and the front are duralast too
