Hello guys. Last week I lowered my car (Worst decision ever). The strut bolt got stuck in the shock fork so I had to saw off my shock fork and press the bushing out of the LCA. THAN I take my car for a drive and hear a KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK. And I break down 40 minutes from home. I notice that the Intermediate shaft is COMPLETELY loose. (No bolts in block). I also snapped the driver side axel…So I tow the car home, get bolts for the Intermediate shaft and bolt that fucker on tight. THAN I take my autozone axel back and redeem my warranty. I installed the axel, backed out of my driveway and SNAP. Inner axel joint competely gets fucked. So I figure the axel was the wrong one. I researched and saw that people were having problems with short axles. I go to autozone to trade it in for another axle and the assholes try giving me a SHORTER axle with a seized outer joint, so I basically made them refund me my money. Than I go to Advance auto and order an axle and install it and BAM it snaps. Than I order one from Napa and same result. So Ive basically snapped 4 axles in 3 days. Does ANYONE have a solution for this, I miss my G2 :’-(
Sounds like a bigger issue than bad axles although auto parts store axles are usually crap. I would suggest checking your motor mounts. Bad mounts can let your motor sit lower and jerk on acceleration allowing your axles to pull out. I would also check all your suspension bushings and radius rods. There’s something going on though causing your axles to break.
My motor does indeed sit crooked. The car was converted from Auto to Manual so the Tranny mount sits about an inch higher. My Suspension bushings are for the most part good and to be honest I dont know what a radius rod is :worry:. I read that OEM axles are longer so Im going to go to the junkyard and get 2 oem ones if I can find them. (One to ride on while I send the other one out to get rebuilt). Anyone else had that problem?
