Axle or steering column problem..help..

well i took my power steering belt off a while ago, but i think my axle is about to go. thing is, it only makes the sound when going slow and turning out of parking slots , neighborhoods, whatever, but only when going slow. is there any full proof way to check if it’s my axle or not? i heard it’s like $70 or so to get new halfshafts or something? I really like the feel of no powersteering BUT i dont wanna have that grind. it’s like a clicking that speeds up when i go faster ( on the turns ). could this be my steering column or something? Thanks in advance guys. --later.

It is sounding like an axle to me. Have you checked to see if you have any torn cv boots?? Even if there are no torn boots the joint inside could still go bad…
You could just get a new axle. I got mine for $75 each with a one year warranty.

do i need to replace both? anyone know of any lifetime warranty’s i can get, i heard that lowered da’s break axles like ther’es no tomorrow…that does’nt sound good…im just afriad it’ll break when going somewhere and i’ll be screwed but im broke!

get some axles from napa, i think they sell for $60 dollars with a lifetime warranty.

if it clicks when you turn, it’s mostly the CV joint. but don’t bother replacing only the CV joint, replace the whole axle, cheaper and easier(30 minutes job).

99% of the times, if it’s clicking while your turning right, it’s gonna be the left axle. cliking while turning left, right axle.

HTH!
