so i was installin the revo2 uca’s i got a few days ago and ran into this prob. (drivers side went fine, no probs) when i took the stock uca off the control arm on the pass. side the control arm tilted out a bit. i didnt think much of it since the drivers side did something silimler. but the prob is that it seems to have exteded (dislocated…) itself in the inner boot i think. need less to say, i cannot get the control arm back up to the uca b/c the axle wont let me push it back in… do i need to take apart the boot to see whats going on? any ideas on how to fix this? I HAVE TO BE AT WORK IN 3 HRS… i hope i can get this fixed…
first, try turning the shaft so that the bearings line up. maybe you got lucky and the bearings did not fall out. keep turning in and jamming it in while squeezing the boot. you may need to take it apart if the bearings slippd off the shaft. if that happened, you have to go to the autoparts store and buy some boot straps or an entire cv boot repair kit. get ready for a dirty job.
okay heres what ive done.
i just took the hub off so the axle would come out. nothing seems to have fallend off. it seems like its just not lining up. my buddies about to help me and see if we can put it back together.
any other advice incase it dosnt work?
according to your first post, it seems that your inner axle section dislocated. it would be easier if you could take the axle out and check it that way. to remove it, the only thing you would have to do is undo the upper A arm and tqist the hub opposite of your car. get the axle out of the hub by banging on it and sliding it out, and trhen taking a screwdriver or a flattene chisel that looks like a screwdriver and pry it out.
i know i am repeating some stuff that you’ve already done, but i just want to make sure i cover all the bases as they say…
well, did you take the boot of of the axle? the only way you’ll know if anything fell off is if you take off the boot or press on the boot with your fingers to see if you feel anything loose. if you take the axle out, you will notice some reliefs in the inner cup. the three bearings are supposed to go into the three reliefs.
yeah. i fixed it.
i ended up unboltin the hub and taking the axle off (disconecting at the joint in question) in hopes of aligning it better. well we still couldnt get it in and didnt know why so i set it down and started to see if there was something wrong with the bearings (there shouldnt be…) and pulled on out a smidge. and as soon as i did that i did to the other three hoping it would solve the problem. put it back up there and it slild right in. such a stupid thing to happen. but luckily we got it. and the amazing part is after that i put everything back on, got showered and still made it to work on time at 2pm. thats nothing short of a small miracle. lol
thanx for the help bro
crappy stuff happens when you pull on the axle shaft. i learned that the hard way, lol. glad to hear that stuff worked out.
mine dislocated when i was doing my motor swap on my civic…i just took it back and told the parts store it was bad…they exchanged it for a new one…
that has happened to me twice. got to be careful with those cv’s
