Axles contiue to be too short

I still havent tried the trick yet but if my stock half shaft wasnt having any problems before then how could the half shaft be the problem. I think I’m just going to get some raxles and hopefully that fixes the problem. Has any one ever tried Napa axles? Are they any good? Better than the crappy advance auto parts axles I hope.

If you ship your old axles to Gator Racing Axles ( 407-353-5207) they will rebuild them they are in Orlando Fl.

My stock half shaft never gave me issues before either, but changing it for the dc half shaft fixed the problem. So you may wanna try that man

I’ll probably look into that. So I’m assuming the dc half shaft is a bit longer, correct?

As of right now, I’m just exchanging axles because my driver side axle is internally defective anyways and I’m pretty sure this axle is the problem. Has any one of you guys experienced the driver side axle sliding out a bit from the half shaft? This is the second time it has happened with advance auto axles (GSP).

Side by side the half shafts look like the same size, but using the dc half shaft and the dc axle ends up being longer. I’ve never had an axle slide out before. Could be your half shaft that is causing it. The little ring clip on the axle isnt seating into the slot in the half shaft. Might wanna take the half shaft off and clean it out, make sure there isnt a bunch of greas built up in that slot. That would prevent that ring clip from seating correctly

Glad you worked it out.

For future reference:
For PASSENGER SIDE:

  • For all Integras 90-01, the passenger side is the same.
For DRIVER SIDE:
  • If you use a 90-93 intermediate shaft you must use 90-93 driver's side axle
  • If you use a 94-01 intermediate shaft you must use a 94-01 driver's side axle

As long as you match the intermediate shaft with the axle it will work with no problems. I’ve been using a DC axle and intermediate shaft in my car with no problems. There is a benefit from using DC axle and intermediate shaft in that you can find used replacement axles easier.

I want to add that if you use 94+ halfshaft you will have to change the oil seal on the tranny housing. They are different size. The 90-93 (cable/DA) halfshaft are wider (radius-wise) and use a different oil seal than 94+ halfshaft (smaller). You may find yourself with an oil leak if you don’t used the appropriate oil seal.

Ifigured that out after I installed it, bought an oil seal for the 2000 civic si since thats the trans I have and everything was fine

Thanks ng, i forgot about the seal

No problem. I went through this myself, and I hate oil leaks. I have a 95 hydro GSR tranny with cable halfshaft and axle.

That’s awesome that you figured it out. I seem to have the same problem you used to have, my axles vibrate or rub on something not sure what but I think it’s because the car used to be automatic before until I made it into a manual. do you think if I get dc intermediate shaft and half shaft that it would solve my problem or do you think not that it might be something else. I’d really appreciate any help or advise as this problem just keeps on getting annoying especially when I get on it, which is very seldom.

When you turn, do you hear a clicking noise?Worn axles make a clicking noise when you make hard turns. Also do a really good check on your engine mounts. More so the rear engine mount that’s hiding in the back. That one gets the most abuse and is the most neglected. my car had vibes and it was engine mounts.
