B16 auto tranny?

well i have decieded to get some itr pistons and slight head work on my auto g2. I saw someone sellin ga jdm b16 auto tranny, it says that it has shorter better gearing compare to ls, which i can see. do you guys thnink it is worth getting??? i mean don’ tyou have to atake off the tranny anyways to take the crank out anyways? well let me know wha tu guys think.

To install pistons you just have to remove the head and oil pan. I think I would go with a manual conversion if I were you.

Would you happen to have the gear ratios for it? I’d really like to compare them.

some kid i know has one, he got his tranny replaced and thats what the shop put in

i dont see the point if ur gonna change ur tranny mite as well change to 5 speed

yah i want 5 speed too but for a 5 speed i put in maybe 800 and the car value actually goes down even more so… i don’t think it’s really worth it if i’m going to get another car in 6 months or so. the auto b16 tranny was only 200 so i figure it’s cheap and if it helps then i would be happy. unfroutanlly i only own a stick accord whcih i don’t drive too often so i don’t know how much effect does the gearing make. that is why i am consulting u guys =)

anyways i bought the ported and plish b18b head with crower valve train and also usdm itr pistons with new rings for 500 shipped. so for now i think i’m good to go. right under my 1000 budget after including the labor .

the b16 auto tranny isn’t worth it… i know a guy w/b16 w/automatic b16 tranny on a 94 civic coupe he runs low 17’s

cool thx for the info

Maybe it’ll be worth it if you got the auto tranny that comes with LSD

=P =P well it seems someone got a special for phantom LSD for 259. so i think i’ll get that =P

lol nm i don’t know what i am thinking

From some who has an b16 with an ls auto if i were to change my tranny again for the 2nd time i would go stick and the price value won’t drop in my opinion most scc enthusiast want a 5 spd and if you are keeping the car for a while then it will be more than worth it to swap a 5spd for more control, better gas mileage, and less brake wear to name a few benefits.

for a while righ t after i get the SAFC i was getting about 30 mpg city/highway but then i played around with the cams and found -2 and -2 to be very torquey so i decided to stick with that and fine tuned it with my AFC. now i am back to about 23 mpg =( not sure if it’s cause of wear from the engine due to the 403 cams or because of the cam settings. but all i know is soon i’ll have a rebuild engine with high compression and springs and retainers that can handel the 403’s i can’t wait =P

actually one last question. can the ITR pistons and rods bolt on to LS crank or do i have to take the pistons off and put it on the LS?

nm i found out =(. how much do u guys think it would cost to take the ls pistons off the rods shave the rods and then put the itr pistons on? should give me about 10.5 cr?
