I Searched!!1 My 5th gear just recently went out in my 1990 Integra. The idea to upgrade to a b16 cable transmission is crossing my mind. Now I know that of course I got the stupid year of integra because of the shaft difference. My question is if I were to swap over to a b16 cable transmission what would I need to replace so I can run this transmission on my car. I am reading around that I may need a new clutch.
My first DA that i had, i bought a B16 J1 trans and it bolted right up no issues. I did however go out and buy a new clutch and flywheel. As long as you buy the clutch for a 91 and your trans is 90-91 youll be fine.
I’m slightly confused. So your saying I need a clutch for 92-93 right? Those are the ones that are the same as all other b series. ALso you mean if my b16 trans is 90-91? Because currently the transmission I do have is 90-91.
car: 90-91
Trans: 90-91
clutch kit i bought: 90-91 Bseries
Its all inter-changeable. If u pull ur LS trans, the B16 trans should bolt right up! i mentioned buying a new clutch for the simple fact that ur already in there. But if ur clutch is nice and grabby already dont worry bout it.
ok. I think I get you now. But as long as it’s a b16 cable trans it should go on without any issues? reason I ask is because of the input shaft difference between a 90-91 and 92-93 integra. The 90-91 is 1 mm shorter and I’ve heard that there are issues when trying to fit a transmission from a 92-93 on a 90-91 car.
IF the B16 trans u have is a 92-93 then its about to get complicated… I had the same setup in my 4 door, i had an LS/Vtec with a 92-93 YS1. All I did was use a friction disc for a 94+ integra, and the PP and flywheel were for a 90-91.
OH no I haven’t purchased any transmissions yet. So what your saying is to get a 90-91 B16 cable transmission and it should bolt directly onto my 1990 Acura integra with the factory engine correct? sorry for the confusion.
yes, correct…
Heh this turned out way more complicated than need be.
JDM cable transmissions AND 90-91 DA Integras use the same small-spline transmission…
92-01 have the same shaft and spline size…
All b-series transmissions will bolt to all b-series blocks, you just need the right parts to make it work right.
Match the clutch disk and throwout bearing to the transmission (If youre getting a JDM cable trans, buy a 90-91 clutch disk/bearing)
The pressure plate and flywheel dont matter, they all interchange.
i have a 91. b16 cable s1 with 91 exedy stage 1 clutch/10lbs FW no problems. youll be fine…
WOW, I just got ten ways cofused reading this. Kevin, you are making this way more difficult than it needs to be!
88-91 b16 trans drop in with no need to swap ANYTHING else! This is the easiest!
Buy a 88-91 B-series clutch IF you need it! I suggest you do, after all the transmission is out of the way, it will save you from having to pull it again!
92-93 cable trans, you will need 92-93 shafts and clutch.
Anything NEWER, will require a Cable to Hydro conversion! And no offence, but from the sounds of it, your not ready for that!
Most anything series are interchangeable if you know what you are doing!
We actually agree on something!
Sorry guys I tend to do that alot. Now I’m going to call an import parts supplier and ask them to send me a S1 1988-1991 B16 Cable Transmission. And yes I’m not super skilled at this but I do all right.
