b16 pistons and crank in b18?

Ok so i have a b18b that is going into my 91teg. Heres the thing, i want to be different so i bought a red four door for a grand and a b18b with 4ok for $750.
My question is: if i wanted to put b16a pistons in it what would be the outcome? also i was wondering if i could use a b16 crank as well. What i am wondering is by how much the power would increase with the pistons and the crank if it can be used. I also am wondering about using the b16’s intake manifold. Any help would be greatly appreciated, i live in an area where people think rice grinders suck and can’t beat thier muscle cars, and i love to prove thick headed hicks wrong. :burnout:

I wouldnt touch the crank, but putting b16 pistons in the LS block will give around a 11:1 compression. You should see good gains from that but your car still can not compete with those fast muscle cars. For one, you would need alot more hp for that. Personally I would say stick with the stock LS motor and go turbo if you want to show up these domestics. Going all motor with an LS can be fun but you will definately see way more hp with a turbo LS.

well i realized after i wrote this that the crank from the b16a wouldn’t work with my engine, i meant like the gsr crank from a g3 but i don’t know if that’ll work either. I would like to stay n/a because it would give me more pride in knowing i didn’t need force induction. The other thing is all the Muscle cars around here are mostly stock running 14’s. So i want to build my motor up with stuff like cams and pistons headers exhaust you know that ol chestnut. I was just wondering what kind of power i could make by disecting other honda motors. the other reason is cost. i can get a hold of almost new b16 pistons and stuff from friends and online i just want to know if i can get the results i want or not.

I have a B18a and I’m in the process of doing the same thing ! I’m also getting the head P&P and the valvetrain redone this very moment . Are you using PR3’s or P30’s ? I’m using P30’s .

I read on another forum this guy did the same thing and got like 175whp , he had the dyno slip posted and everything !

well right now i am not using anything. I am researching to find out what the gains and pros and cons would be. for example i don’t know if the stock rods would be any good with the higher compression and i don’t know if the b16 rods would work so before i do anything i want to know what will happen so i don’t waste a bunch of money on nothing. I have heard from some people that you can make some good gains from this so i want to find out more.

The b18 rods work perfect , you don’t have to shave them or anything plus they can handle the compression. They are a direct bolt on , just swap the b18 piston head with the b16 . You can’t use the B16 rods because the stroke is shorter than the b18 so the rods would be shorter .

 Its a good idea to do research though !
