B16 Q's

well my b16 that i thought was all gravy has turned up some interesting questions concerning the pistons and rods that have been installed in it.

is this a correct height for the pistons to reach?

what will cause these marks?

does this look like it has been milled?

Looks fishy

The first pic is a bit unusual…the piston at TDC should only be flush with the top of the cylinder wall. The second pic depicts valve to piston contact, unless the previous owner just wanted to “mark” his pistons for fun…The third pic looks normal for a stock head that hasn’t been milled or it could have been just resurfaced.

what effect will those marks on the pistons have on actual function if any?
