I have a 92 LS, i was wondering since i have to get the second gen. B16, do i have to get a diff. tranny to or will my YS1 work with it?
Your YS1 will work. Any B-Series Tranny will bolt up to any B-Series block. Just remember that 94+ trannies have hydraulic clutches and it is a pain in the ass to do the coversion.
Also, it is HIGHLY recommended that you use a short geard tranny on your B16. The short gears partially make up for the lack of torque. While your car will run fine with your stock YS1 w/B16, performance wise its not going to be the best thing.

Isn’t my tranny hydraulic? or is it the cable type?
90-93 tegs have cable trannies (so do the 89 jdm g2’s). Hydraulic trannies started in the integra in 1994.
like steve said, the stock tranny will work fine (meaning it’ll let you drive the car), but its not going to be fun to drive. The stock ls gearing is way too long for a b16a, hell, they’re too long for most any motor. Pick up a short geared vtec tranny, you’ll be glad you did.
k, thanks guys 'cause i thought i read on ARDPerformance.com that 92 and up tegs had hydraulic tranny’s, it prolly a typo. So i can buy the 88-91 B16 engine/tranny/ecu and itll drop right in?
honda made the switch to hydro tranny in two stages. for the integra they switched to hydro in 94. For the civic they made the switch 2 yrs earlier.
so, if you get a 92+ b16a there is a good chance it’ll come with a hydro tranny (unless you get a 92-93 b16a from a jdm integra xsi).
yes, an 89-91 jdm b16a will swap right in. All the mounts are the same. All you need to do is run a few wires for vtec, and sicne your car is a 92 you’ll have to deal with obd as well. Go to the teg tips, download the “vtec swap guide” then read it, next read it again, finally, read it one more time, followed by reading it a dozen more times. But really, that thing is vital reading material for anyone doing a swap… all the questions you’ve asked already are answered in it.
what are some good prices for a cable b16a tranny?
